MAKING THE PERFECT CUTOFF
One of my Founders Crew members asked me recently how I create clean, almost perfect cutoffs. So, I figured I show everyone 😉
Step 1: The Fold - This must be perfect! All of your seems and edges must line up exactly in order to get the best result. Make sure there is no fabric bunches up in the middle. It should be smooth and flat.
Step 2: The Measurements & Cut Guides - I go out about 3-3.5 fingers from the collar edge for the shoulder cut. For the lower side guide cut, I go 5 inches down from the armpit seam. Experiment with this to suit your build. After you find your measurement area, make a small cut using scissors in each spot to get through the double seams.
Step 3: The Fabric Wheel - Using scissors will always give you a jagged, bad, uneven cut. You can buy a fabric cutting wheel at Hobby Lobby, Micheal’s, or Amazon. This is the secret to a perfect cut!
Step 4: Commit! - Use your finger to trace an arc from the shoulder cut you made earlier, to the lower cut. Run your finger along this arc to visualize the path. Then, place your cutting wheel on the top cut line, look at your intended path, press down, and steadily roll toward the lower cut line applying even pressure.
Step 5: The Perfect Cutoff - If all went well, you’ll have crisp edges and a clean tank top. Practice this technique on older shirts before chopping up your new Fit Infantry Merch!
