The Face Behind The Brand

I love embroidery. I love teaching. I love building Embroidery Mastery and pouring into the people who trust me to help them grow.

But before all of that, I’m a wife and a mother. And my family will always be the reason behind so much of what I do. I didn’t work at all on this day.

No digitizing. No filming tutorials. No answering business emails. No sitting behind a computer trying to get one more thing done. I was just Mom today.

We bought groceries, went to swimming lessons, squeezed in a workout, rode scooters, stayed at the park too long, and didn’t make it home until almost 9 p.m.

And THAT is one of the things I value most about the life I’ve been able to build through embroidery.

It doesn’t mean I’m never busy. Some days I work all day and pour everything I have into my business. But I also have the freedom to decide that today belongs to my family.

That freedom is a huge part of what I want to help others build through Embroidery Mastery. Not just the ability to make beautiful things or learn another skill, but to use that skill to create more options for your life.

Because at the end of the day, I’m just a regular woman building a business around something I love while raising my girls and trying to be present for the life happening right in front of me.

And ordinary days like this? I now live for them and they’re a big part of why I built the business in the first place💜

One of the things I love most about the weekly Digitize & Stitch & Learn tutorials that I produce is that we aren’t just stitching a cute design together. We’re learning the skills and thought process behind every decision.

Inside every tutorial, I explain why I’m making certain digitizing decisions, why stitch order matters, how different stitch types work together, and how small changes can completely change the final result.

In last week’s lesson, we covered everything from appliqué and adding dimension with fill and running stitches to exporting outlines from Embrilliance into Silhouette Studio so we could create a custom rhinestone template. The goal isn’t for you to simply recreate this one design.

The goal is for you to understand the techniques and thought process so you can confidently apply them to your own designs.

The Face Behind the Brand 💜

Lately, I’ve been trying to find my new normal.

This morning started with making breakfast for my family, then we headed to the gym. I know that might seem surprising after major surgery, but it’s actually been helping. Since I’m not cleared to see my chiropractor yet, I’ve been dealing with a lot of tightness and pain in my neck and shoulders from sitting around so much during recovery. I’ve been focusing on light shoulder exercises and a little bit of leg work to get my body moving again.

More than anything, everything I’ve been through has changed my perspective. I never want to take my health for granted again. Taking care of my body, eating well, and getting stronger has become a priority—not just for me, but for my family.

After the gym, we picked up some new glasses for Kennedy for the school year, and I wrapped up the day by giving the studio a much-needed reset (which is still in progress 😅).

It wasn’t an exciting day, but it was a good one. And honestly, these ordinary moments feel like such a gift right now.

Thank you for following along with this chapter of my journey and for allowing me to share not just the embroidery, but the person behind it.

Every embroidery design starts somewhere.

For this one, I created the knockout SVG in Silhouette Studio, brought it into Embrilliance StitchArtist, digitized it, and then watched it come to life on the machine.

There’s something so satisfying about seeing an idea go from a simple shape on a screen to stitches on fabric.

One design. Two completely different finishes.

This week inside the Embroidery Mastery Community, we digitized and stitched this adorable fall gnome and then took it a step further. I showed members two different ways to finish the exact same design—with rhinestones or without.

Along the way, we combined appliqué, satin stitches, fill stitches, and running stitches into one project, and I broke everything down step by step in the Embrillance Stitch Artist Software so it’s easy to follow, even if these techniques feel intimidating.

Anyone can stitch a design. The magic happens when you understand why one stitch type is chosen over another, how different stitches work together, and the sequence that creates a clean, professional finish.

Lately, I’ve been having so much fun experimenting with rhinestones over appliqué✨

This time I made a little Sunshine shirt for one of my daughters to wear back to school, and I absolutely love how it turned out. I think mixing different textures is one of my favorite parts of creating. Every project teaches me something new, and it’s fun seeing an idea come to life from the screen to the stitch-out. I have a few more ideas for this concept.

A lot of you loved this design with the rhinestones… so I wanted to show you what it looks like without them. 💜

When I first made this design, I thought adding rhinestones over the patterned appliqué fabric was a little too much. My instinct was that the fabric already had enough personality on its own.

But after reading all of your comments, I realized so many of you actually loved the extra sparkle. It just goes to show that there isn’t always a “right” answer in design. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of personal style.

Also, a little update! I opened my Shopify back up over the weekend. I’ve already finished several new designs—I just need to get them uploaded. I’ll be adding them over the next several days, so keep an eye out if you’ve been waiting to grab them. I’m excited to finally get these into your hands and see what you create.

I love sharing the wins, but I think it’s just as important to share the lessons too.

For this appliqué design, I wanted to play with texture and pattern by mixing different fabrics. I absolutely love that part of the design - it adds so much interest without needing a lot of extra detail.

The one thing I’d change? The hot pink satin stitch. I’m a chronic overthinker when it comes to my designs, and sometimes I have a hard time embracing the idea that less is more. I tend to add one more detail, one more color, or one more technique when the design is already saying everything it needs to say😅

Looking at the finished stitch-out, I think the bold satin stitch competes with the fabrics instead of complementing them. A simple bean stitch would have let the different textures and patterns be the focal point while still giving the design a clean, finished look.

I actually love sharing these moments because they give you a peek into how my brain works as a someone who creates designs.

Every design is a series of decisions, and sometimes the best lesson is realizing what you wouldn’t do the next time. That’s the beauty of creating - you don’t always know until you stitch it out.

Watch this design come to life from start to finish. We started with the TrueType font Broadway in the Embrillance Stitch Artist software, then customized it by mixing fill stitches and satin stitches to give the lettering more dimension and personality.

Once the embroidery design was finished, I exported the outline into Silhouette Studio to create a custom rhinestone template. The result is a mixed-media design that combines embroidery and rhinestones for a little extra sparkle.

This is one of my favorite parts of digitizing. You’re not limited to using a font exactly as it was created. With a few adjustments, you can completely transform the look of a design and make it your own.

This entire project is part of one of our Stitch & Learn tutorials inside the Embroidery Mastery Community, where we work through the process together—from digitizing to the finished stitch-out. Every tutorial is designed to help you build skills you can use again and again on future projects.
