Sew To Sow

Sew To Sow While many know us as "Sew to Sow" we are actually "Sew, Shop, Serve". Join us!

To serve children in need in the name of Jesus, some of us sew clothing, some shop and donate new children's clothing and some serve during our work sessions.

The door to help opened and Sew to Sow charged right through it! A few months ago we participated in the HASTEN free medical clinic. On that day, we met Christine . She told us about how she and her co-workers help families in need. Using their nursing education, they visit and work with approximately 125 families helping in various ways. One way they would love to help is by providing needed clothing for the children.
Well now, that sounds like Sew to Sow can help with clothing! Yesterday Pat (head of Baby Boy Dept) and Pat (head of Baby Girl Dept) and me (head of the whatever dept) headed to Winston-Salem with our signature big tote bags filled with clothing from Preemie outfits to Big Kids clothes.
We had such a fun time meeting some of the team and we were able to help fill to overflow the brand new clothing cabinet. We are always thankful when our Heavenly Father opens a door and then equips us to go running right through that door to help children.

Even though the summer months are usually a little quieter in the Sew to Sow work space, this summer has not been the case. The Sleep Clinic that we serve continues to be busy, busy and that means that our pillow case makers have been busy as well.

We have been super blessed by a sweet lady who ran into our Jeanette in a local Walmart. The two of them started to chat as they shopped in the fabric department. As it turned out, a friendship began and Jeanette's new friend blessed Sew to Sow with lovely handmade pillow cases and even quilts!

In addition, Frances, a long time friend of S2S saw our request for pillow cases and sent us a box of super fun pillow cases for boys.

Thank you one and all who provide handmade pillow cases, blankets and also toys and stuffed animals for the Pediatric Sleep Clinic. You are blessing children who are going through a stressful time. Thank you, Joy, for overseeing this part of the Sew to Sow ministry.

Today's post is very different from other posts. S2S believes in prayer and we pray for each other. Our Thursday morning prayer times have been filled with heart-felt concerns for our sick, our lonely, our frightened and our lost.
If you know me, you know that I start nearly every day on my little front porch with my Bible, my prayer list, my devotion book and a cup of coffee. I am out there early before the sun comes up so I can see the glory of God's creation unfold before my eyes.
I want to share today's devotion with you from a book given to my by Clark and Gloria.
"Our Part, His Plan"
"It was a very unorthodox plan. Who had ever heard of conquering a city by walking around it? Picture the amazement on people's faces as they asked, "Let us get this straight. We're going to walk around Jericho, and the walls are going to fall down?"
Sometimes we don't understand God's plan. One of the hardest things in the Christian life is when God directs you to do something but you can't figure out why. Our part is to obey God's directions by faith, even if they don't make sense.
Perhaps God involves us in far-fetched so that when they succeed, no one but God can possibly claim the credit. After all, Joshua couldn't take credit for the fall of Jericho. That was a plan only God could have come up with. Remember that God has some amazing plans for your life. Walk in obedience to His direction. Believe that God has a wonderful purpose and a plan for you."

Remember God has a plan for YOU - each and every one of you.

Today, July 8th, has been one blessed day. Sew to Sow found a bargain on sweat pants which work great for the winter outfits that go to our Title 1 schools. Boxes were delivered BUT in the meantime the church elevator needed a part that had to be ordered. That means all S2S clothing must be carried upstairs. Well these boxes were in the way in the church office and in the way in the donation room and who wanted to lug those heavy boxes upstairs? In comes Cheri and Tony to the rescue. I don't know what was on their schedule today but Tony figured out the easier way to get those pants upstairs and down the hallways to our S2S workspace! Thank you Tony and Cheri.

Sew to Sow was blessed by Lois Webber and Mary Beth Johnson! Lois pulled up to The Crossing front door and called S2S saying she needed a bit of help unloading her car. Down we went and the back of her car was filled to overflowing with box after box of wonderful clothing donations for the children served by Sew to Sow. There were shorts, lots of short, there were tops and adorable sweaters - oh, just too many items to name.
Lois is one of the behind the scenes shoppers and what a blessing she is. This time she connected with Mary Beth who is a shopper all in her own right. Put the two together and S2S had so much fun sorting and getting things ready for kids in need especially the Title 1 schools in our area.
Thank you Lois and thank you Mary Beth!

HASTEN International, led by Dr. Pete Kunkle, held a free medical/dental clinic at the Crossing Church in Kernersville, NC. What a wonderful way to serve people who could not afford medical and dental services!
Numerous groups participated offering check ups, tooth cleaning, eye exams, etc. Sew to Sow worked along side them by providing new, free clothing to children from newborns up through elementary school sizes.
We had a blessed day meeting the families in our communities and serving their children. Thank you HASTEN Medical Missions!

In our previous post, I mentioned how much joy comes with each and every Lovie made for us by Mary Ann. She brings them to us and everyone of us want to see each Lovie up close and personal so they are passed around to the Sew to Sow team. Take a look at the responses of our S2S team when taking a close look at the Lovies. What joy they bring! They go to a group that works with expecting woman as they go through many decisions in their lives. A Lovie goes with a Layette filled with newborn needs. Joy all around!

Sew to Sow had special visitors on June 4!
Grandma Mary Ann has been making Lovies for us for a long time now and those wonderful creations bring much joy to all who see and receive them.
Yesterday Grandma Mary Ann brought her special helper with her to deliver Lovies. Granddaughter, Mira, is 6 years old (will be 7 on Monday) and she helps her Grandmother select yard and assists with color choices for the Lovies. Wonderful helper!
Yesterday, Mira was with us! What a joy! While she was getting the tour of all the Sew to Sow rooms, she noticed the racks of sundresses and skirts that we are sorting to give away to the HASTEN Medical/Dental free clinic on Saturday. We talked Mira into being our sundress model and also decided her favorite dress was a perfect birthday present for her.
Thank you Mary Ann for blessing so many little ones with your Lovies and thank you Mira for being your Grandma's assistant and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

You know sooner or later I would come to the end of the April 2026 School Delivery info and pictures - and this is it! Joyce, Margie, Donna and I delivered to Kimberly Park Elementary and to Griffith Elementary. We had a fine time visiting both schools.

Special thanks to all delivery teams and to all who helped fill the 200+ bags with outfits, socks and underwear. You all are amazing.
May our Heavenly Father be glorified.

Let me introduce you to the Sew to Sow team that serves our High Point and Thomasville Churches. They are headed up by Jeanette Harmon (an original member of S2S) and Joy Hughes. With so many schools to deliver to, they brought along more help and they got the job done. I know there was lots of laughing and sweet times in their cars as they traveled from school to school.

They went to Northwood Elementary, Kirkman Park Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Jamestown Elementary, Thomasville Primary and Liberty Drive! Busy, busy, busy! Thank you all!
