Good design is in the details. And yes, we’re going to notice them.

The right proportions. A mix of textures. Materials that feel good together. Lighting that knows when to make an entrance and when to stay quiet.

A bedroom that makes you want to cancel plans. A living room that says, stay awhile. A kitchen that manages to be beautiful without being precious.

Because a well designed space shouldn’t just look good in a photograph.

It should make you want to live in it.

And preferably never leave.

A cohesive palette doesn’t have to mean a predictable space.

Keeping a similar palette throughout creates a sense of continuity, while tile, wallpaper, texture and pattern bring in the moments that make each room feel considered and distinct.

The key is knowing where to repeat and where to introduce something unexpected. A familiar color can take on an entirely different character in a patterned wallpaper or a beautifully detailed tile.

Consistency creates the foundation. Layered materials create the interest.

This one turned out beautifully. The wallpaper in the dining room brings just the right amount of personality to this modern home, while the kitchen and dining spaces keep everything feeling clean, warm, and effortlessly pulled together. A little pattern goes a long way.

Looking back at one of my earlier projects, this open-plan living and dining room still feels like a space that got the balance just right.

The goal was to create a room that felt sophisticated and layered, but also comfortable enough for everyday living. With the living and dining areas sharing one open space, it was important that each zone had its own identity while still feeling connected.

I used a warm, neutral palette, a mix of textures, and carefully selected furnishings to create continuity throughout the room. The result is a space that feels calm, collected, and timeless—proof that good design doesn’t always need to follow the latest trend.

One of the things I love most about revisiting older projects is seeing how well thoughtful design can stand the test of time.
