Hello friends! It’s been quite awhile…life has been crazy but also incredibly beautiful. I hope you’ve been experiencing the same 💕

I’m back to crocheting and creating but this time with my mom’s help. Crochet takes time and patience, with two people we can make more and offer many different types of products. I’ve been focusing on bags and bandanas in the dye yarn! I love how they worked up. I’ll be posting here and there, you’ll hear from me soon about some upcoming vendor shows so be on the look out!

The Appalachian Nook has gotten a little seasonal makeover! 🧡

You’ll find some cozy fall favorites — pumpkins, a sweet little scarecrow, and more handmade goodies — along with some of your favorite barnyard friends and happy houseplants. 🌻🐄🌿

And… there’s a little something new! 👀✨

You may notice a new name on the display. The Appalachian Nook is the new home for our handmade creations! 💛💙

Same handmade pieces. Same small-batch love. Just a name that feels a little more “us”.❤️

🦋 A Labor of Love…
One Monarch at a Time 🦋

Every summer, we head into the Appalachian woods and fields in search of tiny Monarch butterfly eggs and caterpillars hiding on native Milkweed plants.

The Monarch Butterfly is the official State Butterfly of West Virginia, but it is also a vulnerable species, threatened by habitat loss, pesticides, climate change, and the decline of Milkweed.

We carefully raise each caterpillar, feeding it fresh Milkweed until it forms its beautiful jade-green chrysalis. Then comes the magic… a brand-new Monarch butterfly emerges! Once their wings are strong, we release them back into nature to begin their incredible migration of nearly 3,000 miles to Mexico.

💚 Want to help Monarchs?
Plant Milkweed in your yard—or simply let it grow naturally. Milkweed is the only plant where Monarchs lay their eggs, and it’s the only food their caterpillars can eat.

Every egg, every caterpillar, and every butterfly released is one small step toward protecting one of West Virginia’s most treasured symbols.
