These two quilts have both been picked up by their new owner (one of my repeat customers whom I appreciate so much). The first one, she and I lovingly refer to as her "Beer Quilt". It's all t-shirts from local breweries that she likes and has visited. I found a really cool quilting design with beer bottles and mugs that really makes it a little bit "extra".

The second one is from shirts she's collected from festivals that she's been to and other shirts that mean something to her. Now she has another quilt to add to her collection to commemorate all her fun travels!

This baby quilt is a little different than some others I've made. I was given four adult t-shirts, pieces and parts of a man's flannel shirt, part of a man's corduroy sports coat, and several bandannas and various items to turn into a quilt for a little baby girl who will never have the chance to meet the owner of most of the items in this quilt. If my memory serves me correctly, they belonged to the baby's grandpa who passed away before she was born. Sorry...I digress. But you all know I love the back stories of these special memory quilts.

Anyway, I used the four t-shirts for the middle section and cut all the bandannas into hearts. Then I quilted hearts all over the quilt! I love it, and the person who hired me to make it seems very happy with it. I especially love how you can take things that don't match or coordinate at all, and make them into something pretty.

These two quilts have been delivered all the way to Texas. One is made entirely of t-shirts from someone who was part of a college swim team. She gave me full creative freedom to do whatever I wanted. I took advantage of the t-shirts all being the same colors (except for that one blue shirt), and chose to use lots of different fabrics. I love scrappy quilts, and I love how this one turned out.

The second quilt is made of metal/punk band t-shirts, and he wanted a little more symmetry. He also asked to make it have a punk look to it. I took advantage of the dark colors with just a peek of red to spice it up. I think the quilting design also added to the edginess of this quilt.

My HS Geometry teacher, Mr. Burton Whited, would be proud of this one. Lots of math-ing went on with this quilt. And I love this one. So many pretty t-shirts helped to give it a great foundation. The moment she first looked at it when she picked this one up, she immediately started talking about each t-shirt and which event it represented. So many memories. Note the quilting design using what I think is almost exactly like her sorority logo with the Delta symbols repeated horizontally across the quilt. ❤️ Also...Magic approves, as you can see in the first photo. ;)

This one is the last of the graduation season quilts. This was college. I sort of fell in love with this one. The photos don't do it justice, and it's not because of my sewing. It's because of the colors of the sorority t-shirts. They are all such pretty colors...sort of pastels, but still saturated. And the backing fabric was just perfection, in my opinion. I get attached to these quilts by the time I handle all the shirts and read the logos as I go. I felt like I had been through Rush Week by the time it was finished. I love this one, and I heard the owner of all these shirts, and now this quilt, loves it too.

This quilt just got delivered all the way to North Carolina this weekend. It has quite a story. First, its owner found me on FB from the "Highway" quilt I shared last year. I hit "boost" on my post, paid a $15 advertising fee, and chose the southwest US to receive the post. Low and behold, this quilt's new owner saw the post and on a wing and a prayer, she shipped a box full of her memories to me, I'm sure with her fingers crossed that I wasn't a scammer.

Anyway, her mom (living in Florida) started a quilt for her several years ago and made a little progress, but although she knew how to sew, she had never made a t-shirt quilt. She tried her best, but had some starts and stops. Then a hurricane hit and flooded her home, which also flooded all the shirts and stopped any progress she had made.

So, when I got the box, the first thing I did was to cut everything apart, and start fresh. She loves to travel, so I quilted it with suitcases, airplanes, and cameras. I got a phone call from her tonight that just warmed my heart. She loves it. And I love that these shirts have been through such a journey, and now they are home.

I love Lala Sewz. And I totally agree with her on this. I understand they are t-shirts and not humans, but they hold so many precious memories. When a mom or a daughter or a son or a son/daughter brings me the precious t-shirts, clothing, or baby clothes of their loved ones, it absolutely IS emotional for me, and especially for them. It's truly an honor for me to be entrusted with these items that hold so many memories. I don't take it lightly.
