We surveyed 334 people who were stung by stingrays, and the stats were WILD: 523 total stings, with almost all of them happening below the ankle. While most people handled the pain with the classic hot water soak at the lifeguard tower, 50 of these cases ended up in the ER or Urgent Care.

The "stingray shuffle" isn't a flawless system, and lightning definitely strikes the same place twice (four of our respondents had been stung 12 or more times!).

A huge shoutout to our customer Mike Huang (m.polo88) for sending us this aftermath shot. What you’re looking at is a real stingray barb that struck with enough force to pierce the outer shell of the bo**ie.
