Introducing the Anger Buster Box: When you introduce the Anger Buster Box, it is to be introduced as a “tool” for the FAMILY to use when any member of the family experiences anger or frustration. This box is your new “Go To”. It is to be introduced when every family member is feeling calm and grounded. Most families introduce the Anger Buster Box in a family meeting, explaining what it is used for and HOW to use each item. On the next page you’ll find the information regarding each individual item and its purpose. Children learn best by example! When they see Mom, Dad, etc utilize these tools when they feel angry, they will want to also. I know this sounds silly but this sets a tone for working as a team and reminds children that adults have big feelings too and that it is NORMAL. The Anger Buster Box should be placed in an easily accessible area that feels safe for all members of the family. Some kids prefer to make a fort and keep the box in there or under a desk, etc. Whatever works best for your family is okay.

The fine print: Although I have a lot of experience and education, I am not a doctor. I can not diagnose, treat or cure any diseases or disorders and neither will the Anger Buster Box. It is just another “tool” to add to your family tool box when working through difficult emotions. I simply have experience that I want to share with the world. 🙂 Small pieces may be choking hazards for young children.

Directions: To some people, this is a box full of random items. If you do not introduce and implement this box accordingly, it will be just that. However, each item in this box has been carefully selected out of hundreds of options. I have selected items that I have had success with in the classroom and in my home. With consistency and thoughtfulness, I believe this box will become an important staple in your home as well. As I’ve spoken with other educators and specialists, they have all agreed that THESE items can lead to successful de-escalation.

A little about me: My name is Sarah Hannah. I am 37 years old and live in Lacey, WA. I have a blended family with my husband and 3 children. I began working with kids in 2002 and have continued to do so since then. I started working in childcare, then preschool, and now I work for the Olympia School District. During the last 21 years I’ve worked with children from infants to 12+ years old. Some of these kiddos have had developmental delays such as Autism, Down Syndrome, physical disabilities and many children just dealing with life’s regular stressors. I have dealt with 6 hour tantrums, trauma survivors, children who have dealt with COVID struggles and self - harm behaviors. I have my Child Development Associate and WA STARS training in emotional intelligence and behavior management. In 2022 I became Right Response Certified as well. My goal is to share some of my knowledge and experience with others, to help support families that are in need with emotional regulation and behavior management.
