Necessarily Nerdy's mission is to inspire joy, spark creativity, and build a supportive community through the art of playful making.

My foray into creating nerdy plushies started when I could not keep my young son away from our game controllers. I took a close look at our Xbox controller and decided…I think I can make that! Maybe that will be a distraction from the actual controllers….Did it work? Absolutely not 😛

But what I did discover was, I could make that! And since I don’t do anything half way I began to experiment with

add-ons, fabric and stuffing types, sewing techniques ect. Yes I managed to nerd out about sewing while sewing nerdy things 🙂

My crafts have grown from fleece to minky, from a basic machine to an embroidery, Cricut, & serger, and from basic designs to complex patterns of my own and others. However, my favorite part of sewing remains, creating cute items for other’s enjoyment. I still sew for myself, for my family, and now for people all over the world! I keep learning, growing, and finding new outlets to explore and expand. Thank you for your support!

Setup is complete at my very first national convention!

It’s just a little silly but I am just so grateful to participate alongside so many amazing artists! Thank you for believing in my strange tiny creatures, my cozy chaos, and my ever-growing army of nugget friends. Getting the chance to bring Necessarily Nerdy to Anime Central feels incredibly special, and I’m so grateful for the support that helped make this possible.

Here’s to new adventures, spreading the kitten nugget love, and a whole lot of love ahead!

This past year I took a chance by completing The Creative Leap with Indiana Arts Commission

I started a whole post of wrapped stats on items and favorites but when I thought back to what I actually wanted to remember 2025 as the year I took and gave comfort in my creations.

I made and deepened connections through a business coaching grant through Indiana Arts Commission and appreciated meeting & continuing relationships incredible local vendors.

So many amazing messages, repeat friends, and pics/videos of cats playing with toys is a new favorite development. Learning of others using Kitten Nuggets for comfort from anxiety was such a sweet compliment.

My family had an incredible adventure that inspired new creativity in my branding and goals.

To each and every person that helped support this little dream, I am so grateful for the reactions, conversations, shares & likes.
