The dream of owning a little boutique didn’t begin three years ago. It began years earlier, walking through tiny shops with my Gram. Those afternoons sparked something in me. I loved the charm, the treasure hunting, the feeling that every item had been chosen with care, and the look of joy on her face as we took it all in. She had no idea she was planting a dream that would stay with me for the rest of my life.
Three years ago, that dream unexpectedly became reality.

The opportunity to open The Lafayette Mercantile came just months after a devastating loss in my family.
Looking back now, I believe this little shop found me exactly when I needed it. It gave me somewhere to pour my grief, my creativity, my hope, and eventually...my joy. Over the last three years, these four walls have held so much more than clothing, candles, gifts, and home dĂŠcor.

They’ve held conversations.
Celebrations.
Heartbreaks.
Hugs.
Laughter.
Tears.
Friendships I never expected to find.
They’ve watched women light up because someone finally carried their size.
They’ve introduced strangers who became friends.
They’ve reminded me, over and over again, that people matter so much more than products.
This little shop slowly helped me find pieces of myself again. And none of it would’ve been possible without the incredible people who became part of this journey.

Kristin...thank you for your encouragement, your friendship, and for always showing up when I needed you.

To the friends who painted walls, unpacked boxes, built displays, worked events, folded clothes, carried furniture, listened to endless ideas, and never once asked for anything in return...thank you. You built so much more than a shop. You gave your time, your talents, and your hearts, and I will never forget it.

Maggie... for nearly four decades you’ve been my loudest cheerleader and the voice in my head whenever self-doubt tries to creep in. Thank you for always reminding me who I am.

One last week.

It’s hard to believe we’re here.

This little space has been home to so many memories over the last three years. Every order, every conversation, every laugh, and every milestone helped shape who we are today.

As bittersweet as it is to say goodbye, we’re even more excited for what’s ahead. We can’t wait to welcome you into our new space and make even more memories together.
