Effective immediately, The Ivory Wren & Company will be closed until further notice.
If you have recently completed a maternity buy back with us, please do not worry. I will be reaching out to you to schedule a time for pick up.
When I opened this shop, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I knew introducing a maternity and postpartum resale boutique to our community would take time. I knew I was stepping into a market that was already dominated by online shopping and big box retailers. But I also believed that moms deserved a place where they felt seen, supported, and celebrated.
From the very beginning, this business has been built with my whole heart.
What I didn’t fully prepare myself for was just how much of myself I would pour into it.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been trying to balance two jobs, raising children, trying to be the wife and mom my family deserves, packing up our home, renovating another, and squeezing whatever spare minute I had left into keeping the shop running. I’ve adjusted hours, worked around unpredictable schedules, answered messages late at night, and tried so hard to make this work because I truly believed in what we were building.
But somewhere along the way, I realized something.
I’ve spent so much time encouraging other moms to slow down, prioritize themselves, and practice self care that I completely forgot to take my own advice.
The truth is, I’m exhausted.
Not because I don’t love this business—I absolutely do. Not because of this amazing community—you have been more supportive than I ever imagined. But because I comply cannot continue pouring from an empty cup.
Owning a small business is beautiful, but it’s also incredibly difficult. The reality of competing with online retailers and big box stores is something many small businesses are facing every day, and unfortunately, we are no exception. There comes a point where passion alone isn’t enough to sustain a business, no matter how much you want to do it.
So for now, I’m choosing to pause. I need to take a step back and evaluate what the future looks like for us. During this time, I’ll be reviewing our business model, thinking through what I truly want this business to be, and deciding whether or not it’s something that can continue long term.
I don’t know what the answer is yet.
Whether this is simply a pause before a fresh start or the closing of this chapter, I want every single one of you to know how incredibly thankful I am. Every purchase, every kind comment, every share, every recommendation, every conversation in the shop—you made this dream possible. You have this business slide, and I’ll never be able to express how much that has meant to me.
Please continue to follow our page for updates as I take this time to reflect and decide what comes next.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in this business.
