Meditating with mala beads is a way to anchor the breath the body and the mind into one rhythmic practice ✨

The repetition of movement combined with intentional breathing helps the nervous system settle and brings awareness out of the mind and into the body. Each bead becomes a physical marker of presence making it easier to stay connected to the intention rather than getting lost in thought.

The guru bead acts as the energetic center of the mala. Beginning and ending at this point creates a full energetic cycle supporting clarity focus and release. Moving bead by bead with the breath allows intention to be embodied rather than just spoken. Over time this practice strengthens concentration emotional regulation and grounding.

Malas are especially supportive for those who find seated meditation challenging. The tactile element gives the hands something to do while the breath and intention guide the mind. Ending the practice with a conscious release helps close the energetic loop and return back into the day feeling clear and centered.

This is my brother Ramtin’s story.

Ramtin passed away at 45 years old on January 14 2018 after living with cancer and MS. But his body did not break all at once. The weight on his nervous system began decades earlier.

When Ramtin was 13 years old, our family was forced to flee our country during the Iran Iraq war. At that time young boys were being taken to serve in the military. If we had stayed he would have been sent to war as a child. Leaving was not a choice. It was survival.

Years later Ramtin studied in London far from family trying to build a future. He earned his pilot license and did everything he was told to do. After 9/11, everything changed. Because he was Iranian he was no longer allowed to fly with any airline. Entire nations were placed under suspicion. Innocent lives were reduced to labels.

Chronic stress displacement discrimination and fear live in the body. Trauma does not disappear with time. It settles into the nervous system the immune system and the cells.

What is happening today in Iran is part of the same cycle.
Young people are being killed for wanting freedom.
Instead of building their country they are being silenced.

This is not politics.
This is the human cost of oppression over time.

And this is why I speak.
Because silence is how this keeps happening.
