We left Tuesday for a short fall trip. Heading to The Breaks Interstate Park on the border of Kentucky and Virginia. We were here we think about 28 years ago with my parents and our baby girl Megan. Also a little drive away is Natural Tunnel State Park with a train that runs through it. We’ve seen both parks now and are getting some rain from the hurricane Isaias. There’s a couple videos of the ravine at the Breaks with a train going through the valley. Pretty cool.

Our last big spot to see was the Badlands. I’d heard of them but had no idea. They are amazing. So beautiful majestic peaks and cool canyons. We also lucked out and saw wild mountain goats on the ride through the park. We are now slowly making our way home. It’s a little hard to adjust to retirement life and not feel like we need to hurry. It’s been a great trip.

Arrived at Devil’s Tower KOA last night and enjoyed the view. Campground is right there as you can see from the picture with our trailer and van. Went up this morning driving by the prairie dog village. There were tons of them. So cute! Parking towards the top then the Devil’s Tower loop hike. My watch said 1.5 miles. A lot for me these days. The last pic if you zoom in there’s a climber. We saw quite a few on the back side too. Crazy if you ask me!

Second day in this area we drove the wildlife loop at Custer State Park. It was so good!! People bring a bag of carrots and get out and feed the wild donkeys. Some were just babies, so cute. Friends told us it was a don’t miss. It was a beautiful day too. Now heading to Devils Tower just entered Wyoming.

Heading West. The Dignity statue at the South Dakota Welcome center. Got set up at our campground. Next day saw both the memorials close by. and . So huge and impressive.

Left last Thursday for a short out west adventure. Spent the first 3 nights at in Illinois. A lot of hiking and some nice views. Left Sunday for an overnight at in Iowa. Leaving shortly heading to a KOA in South Dakota for another overnight then towards SW S Dakota and the Black Hills to visit Mt Rushmore and whatever else is nearby.

Tried a quilted jacket out of a crew neck sweatshirt. Quilt as you go Instagram tutorial from Jacinda Wilkey - CreatEd Studio. I love how it turned out. Added the embroidery on the back for the WOW factor. This one’s not for sale. Sorry it’s mine!

Burgess Falls. One day in the rain and mud. Back on a dry morning for the 3/4 mile hike to the big falls. Glad we went back. So pretty.

It’s been raining since we arrived. Today when it let up we took a drive thru Falls Creek Falls State Park where we’re staying and found the beautiful waterfalls. Lots of low clouds today too! We were here before in the fall and I don’t remember these falls. I don’t think there was water falling then. Spring is better for chasing waterfalls.

We left last Wednesday for a camping trip south for warmer weather. First stop was near Peru, IN at a state park on a reservoir lake with a cool dam. Next to southern Indiana basically on the border of Kentucky the bridge and tunnel vids are crossing the river in to KY. Next. KOA in Horse Cave,KY that had teepees, covered wagons and treehouses. Pretty cool! Left Tuesday morning for Fall Creek Falls State Park in Tennessee. Lucked out and got a spot for over the holiday weekend so we’re here for almost a week. We’ll explore the area soon.
