Today, I rescued a cat from Angleton Animal Services Adoption Center. And as I held him for this photo, I kept thinking about this: God gave mankind dominion over the animals.
I thought about this, especially being an avid hunter and fisherman. We do so much for conservation for wildlife, but if y’all saw how spent the officers are and the conditions that these domesticated animals are stuck with, I think you’d understand where I’m coming from here.
Dominion includes stewardship. God gave us authority over His creation, and with that authority comes the responsibility to protect, care for, and properly steward what He placed in our hands.
Proverbs 12:10 says, “A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast.”
These animals did not choose abandonment, abuse, neglect, or homelessness. They have no voice at local council meetings or during Election Season. They cannot ask for better conditions. We have to speak for them.
So I asking all citizens everywhere to please show up and ask the elected to please help our community shelters.

There are officers. There are volunteers. There are fosters. There are rescuers. There are businesses willing to sponsor and citizens willing to help.
Now the communities just need the facilities to support that work.
God gave us dominion. He gave us the responsibility. Now let’s do our job.
Because perhaps stewardship is not about how we treat the things that can benefit us, but how faithfully we care for the lives that cannot!
