Post mission report for SFC Phillip Michael Cantrell, 3 and 4 June 2025.
Tuesday afternoon we set up static flags in front of Lowe Funeral Home in Warrenton prior to the private viewing for his family. Three PGR members then stood a flag line for the 6 to 8 pm public visitation.
Wednesday morning I went by the cemetery to set up static flags on the way to the funeral home for the Rolling Honor Guard (RHG) to the cemetery. I met the Army Honors Team and led them to the funeral home to be pallbearers. Shortly after arrival at the funeral home we were informed there was an accident with a fatality a few miles down the road and the Sheriff's Department had no deputies available for the funeral procession. Since our hero worked with DNR we had three Game Wardens in the procession. The sergeant in charge graciously stepped up to provide a LEO es**rt to the cemetery. Four PGR members joined the procession to provide a RHG to the cemetery led by Game Wardens, another two PGR members were waiting with flags ready at the cemetery.
During the service by an Army Chaplain it began to rain. One of the mourners with an umbrella came and stood by our only female in the flag line so she wouldn't get wet. Following the Chaplain, Military Honors were rendered then an Angel Coin and condolence card were presented to the widow.
After the service we departed to go to Warrenton for a late lunch. On the way it began to rain very hard. We arrived at the restaurant and were joined by some friends of SFC Cantrell who again thanked us for being there. After lunch we proceeded home in a torrential downpour. Everyone arrived home safely.
Thanks to all that made this mission a success and prayers go out to the family and friends of the lady who lost her life in the accident.
