My Aunt Debbie An adventurous fashion label, for forward thinking folks skipping along the road less traveled. My Nephews helped me to name the business My Aunt Debbie.

My name is Debbie Serdy and I am the artist behind the independent fashion and accessories label, My Aunt Debbie, and boutique by the same name. Waaaaaaaay back in the 1980's, while I was using my college degree in Environmental Conservation to the fullest as a bartender; I started making a line of jewelry inspired by my love of pop culture and everything kitschy. When I wore my jewelry to work, (

always breaking the "no dangly jewelry" dress code), I would notice that after my customers had a few drinks they would want to buy what I was wearing. Before I knew it, I had a thriving little jewelry business while mixing up martinis.

30 years later I'm still basically doing the same thing. I could list all of the artistic achievements, and experiences I've had, and the amazing people I have had the privilege of working with,, and I am delighted to say that there have been many. But the reason I still do this boils down to a few simple things........ I like to make things that make people laugh, I like to encourage and inspire people, and I'm really not that good at doing anything else. Without them life would be so boring, Teaching them to push the envelope, and think outside of the box are some of my proudest moments. When I'm not cutting out pictures of Pee Wee Herman and Andy Warhol, you can find me haunting flea markets and thrift shops for
vintage flotsam and jetsam, unusual doodads and weird textiles. I conjure these goodies up into expressive clothing and curious accessories. I fantasize about rock stars wearing them on stage, and shy folks wearing them as they sing into their hairbrushes fantasizing about being rock stars. Finally unpacking boxes and starting to make our new house a home. Here is what Iā€™ve been up toā€¦.
1. Lace doily curtains in the bedroom with crochet potholder bunting. The Turner pictures are from Acacia Collectibles Bisbee in Bisbee Az, purchased many moons ago. You Make Me Happy sign was scored at the Leola Thrift shop for $2!

2. This amazing wind chime thingy is from āœØ Space āœØ. It makes the most soothing sounds when the breeze stirs it.

3. The fab monster clam shell is from Bob
Bob and I both have booths at Mod*ish Lancaster
My Dad made us the shaker peg board as an engagement gift over 30 years ago.šŸ’–

4. These pieces are from 2 of my fav local used furniture places: the humble white table is from Next to New Fine Furniture and the AMAZING mirrored chest (we also got the matching dresser) is from Garden Spot Furniture

Because of these orders I watched Harvey with Jimmy Stewart (sooooo good!!) and saw the original Strawberry Fields Forever video. I canā€™t believe I hadnā€™t seen either before!!

You know itā€™s serious when I pack up the Singer. Iā€™m gonna be radio silent for a bit because WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!! Iā€™m currently packing up 28 years of memories from our City home on Cherry St., and preparing for our move to the other side of the Conestoga River. Only 3 miles away but feels like another world. šŸŒ²šŸŒ¼šŸøšŸšŸŒæšŸ¦†šŸŒ±šŸ¢šŸŒ»šŸŒ·My Etsy shop is still open for business, and feel free to reach out for custom orders, but I wonā€™t be doing any shows this summer. Iā€™ll post some pics as we go along. How did we accumulate so much stufffffff!!!!!!šŸ¤Ŗ. Oh yeah, and we will be converting the garage into my studio. That should be interestingā€¦ā€¦
