These were two prom dresses from April/May. Both of them had similar problems. Both were just a little bit too snug.

The first one I was able to capture them before picture that was sent from the girls mom showing that the zipper would not go the whole way up and there was already a string there and the loops were set over to the next seam. So I shortened the zipper to stop at the waist wth a hook and eye closure. Then I moved the loops over to the zipper line and then strung it back up. It worked very well and looked very nice on her, when she came to try it back on.

The second dress was similar only this time the zipper came nearly the whole way up, but it was very snug. So once again, I shortened the zipper to the waist, put in a hook and eye closure. In order to make the loops at the back, I had to shorten the lining by 2 inches to give me enough fabric to make loops. Metallic gold ribbon was purchased for the string tie.

One of my favorite solutions for dresses that are just slightly too small.

I’ve had a lot of mothers, bringing me their wedding gowns to repurpose for items to give to their daughter for her wedding day. In this case, the first two pictures are of the gown and several pictures after are before and after of items this mother gave me to embellish or rework.

I have made “ getting ready robes” out of Mom’s wedding gown, but in this case, it was a pre-purchased robe that I altered, shortening the hemline and also shortening the sleeves and then adding lace embellishment from Mom gown.

The slippers were pre-purchased, and I just added an embellishment in the middle of the slipper from Mom‘s gown

This mom found the clutch purse and I recovered. It added some embellishment and changed out the rope handle for a chain.

Then I was asked to make a pocket square with a monogram for the Dad and a special embroidered heart for inside the daughter’s wedding gown.

Lots of components to this one, but so much fun to work on!

Now that I’ve started my month long break, for July, I’m going to get caught up on some of my posts. Not in any particular order, but multiple posts are coming.

The first one is a wedding gown.

The daughter, of a longtime friend of mine, had a vision of pastel rainbow colors for her wedding. She asked me if I could add an iridescent chiffon layer of fabric over her whole wedding gown.

It took some time because I had to carefully take the bodice off the skirt, mimic the pleats at the top. Then using my dress form, I pinned the iridescent fabric over each skirt panel and carefully pinning the seam lines so each panel could be sewn together. The dress had pockets so I just added slits at pocket level and tacked them in place. I sewed everything back together and the pictures show the result. It was a lot of work but so worth it!

I was very happy to make her vision a reality and she absolutely loved it!

My bestie, Robin asked me to make this bunny for her newest coming granddaughter’s baby sprinkle. Robin gave me the pink satin robe, that was used the day of her son and daughter-in-❤️’s wedding, to make this special baby gift.

The satin was a little too thin, so I lined all the pieces to make the bunny sturdier and easier to stuff. I also had some faux fur in my fabric stash that was used for the inside ear and another piece that I machine embroidered the baby’s name to and stitched it to the tummy.

The lace, that I embellished above the feet and above the tail and the bow at the top of the ear, was also from the the robe.

This one was personal because these friends are like family! 💗
