🚨 STATEMENT FROM THE BROWN FAMILY REGARDING CHUCK BROWN DAY

The Brown family has publicly announced that it no longer supports the continuation of Chuck Brown Day under its current leadership and management.

According to the family’s statement, concerns involving communication, professionalism, contractual agreements and the family’s role in protecting Chuck Brown’s legacy have remained unresolved. The family is calling for new leadership that will respect its wishes and preserve the integrity of the Godfather of Go-Go’s name and cultural legacy.

We stand with the Brown family and support their right to protect Chuck Brown’s name, wishes and legacy. We also believe everyone involved should work together respectfully to find the best possible solution—one that centers the Brown family, honors Chuck Brown properly and allows his extraordinary contributions to Washington, D.C. and Go-Go music to be celebrated with dignity.

Chuck Brown Day has become an important celebration for Washington, D.C. and the entire Go-Go community. When the family of the man being honored raises concerns this serious, their voices deserve to be heard and taken seriously.

We invite the Go-Go community, musicians, fans, cultural leaders and District officials to join this important conversation respectfully.
