Very sad and very telling.

Makes me think of a line that I always remember from an old movie.
“For kingdoms to change, people must change.”

You can make laws and rules but if it doesn’t come from people’s hearts, it’s a much slower process and often resisted by people. We definitely need a rebirth of decency in the way humans treat….ummm, EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE!
