I know this might be a little controversial, but it’s come up a few times recently and I feel like it’s time to share my perspective.
To be clear, this is NOT an anti-Botox, anti-filler, anti-GLP-1, or anti-peptide post. I have nothing against any of those things—or the women who choose them. Honestly, I’ve seen some incredible results with peptides, and I absolutely think there is a place for GLP-1s for some people. And I’d be lying if I said I don’t think about lip filler on a daily basis. 😂
But I think that’s the problem. It feels like we’re all running a race where the finish line keeps moving.
There’s always another treatment.
Another injection.
Another supplement.
Another trend.
Another thing we need to “fix.”
When I was growing up, I remember thinking if I ate clean, worked out, and had a nice tan... I was golden. At least to me, it felt so much simpler.
Now you can feel really good about yourself... until you open Instagram.
Suddenly you’re comparing your lips to everyone else’s. Comparing your body to the ultra-lean physique that’s back in style. And before you know it, the goalposts have moved again.
I’ve always been about finding an affordable, sustainable way to live a healthy lifestyle. Maybe I’m a little old school, but I still believe you can build an incredible body through consistency, lifting weights, and good nutrition.
That doesn’t mean there will never be a place for a little Botox down the line, or that my body won’t need some extra support as I age.
But for right now, I’m feeling the urge to rebel.
To rebel against a world that wants women to believe there’s always one more thing to fix.
And as a girl mom, my daughters are a huge part of that decision.
I don’t want to contribute to the pressure they may one day feel to start fixing themselves.
How can I convince them they’re perfect exactly the way God made them while I’m actively changing the same features they inherited from me?
I don’t have all the answers.
I just know that, for now, preserving a little natural beauty feels like my own quiet act of rebellion. I’ve never really been very good at following the rules anyway 🤷🏼♀️
