I've been actually sitting down and making some shorts. I am mostly going to post them on Instagram and YouTube.

Target is based in Minnesota so I have a lot of opinions about this. I'm still boycotting Target and I know a lot of other people are too. The last time I went in there was several months ago to get something that I couldn't get locally anywhere else and it was desolate. The only black people I saw in there were buying groceries just like when I was shopping at the beginning of the boycott. At the time they were the only place that carried the plant milk that my baby could drink. When a local grocery store started carrying it that was when my boycott fully started.

When I was 13 I got into fashion. It was 1993. The designers I liked the most were Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Betsy Johnson Anna Sui and Isaac Mizrahi. I had an appreciation for Isaac Mizrahi into my early twenties. But even as somebody who has spent my entire life into and doing fashion, I could not tell you a definitive piece that he has done that stands out the way the other designers have. He had the essence of the '80s and '90s in the '80s and '90s and I think that really worked back then. In the 2000s and 2010s I think he worked really well when it came to marketing and his process seemed a lot more like that of a graphic designer. Cultivating a feeling and not necessarily a very specific style. The thing I remember the most is the orange label and orange and pink.

I remember him doing the collaboration with Selma Blair and how cool I thought it was to make accessible fashion accessible. I also remember how Selma Blair did a full heel turn the last several years and that is definitely an elephant in the room that I think might deserve discussion. As far as I can tell he doesn't share her views so I can hope that's true.

But yeah, I think it's pretty damning that Target just keeps shuffling around their C-suite folks and hiring new ones. Then just trying to shake their keys to the side to get us to pay attention to that, rather than talk about the fact that they got rid of their pride displays after making their store a safe space for their q***r shopper base. Oh my gosh this came up in conversation recently and I figured I would share this blast from the past! They used outtakes from break time and my home visit to make a Project Runway/Dixie commercial. We joke that this was my husband's television debut and he likes to jokingly brag about it.

It took me a little longer than I had hoped but I got all of the first round of Monstera capelets sent out! Our dog got injured and our toddler has been resisting naps so things have been a little bit chaotic 😅 Growing pains! Anyway, I really appreciate everybody's patience and I hope you have a fun time running around the woods in your capelets. I'm open for orders again and I did preemptively make a few so that I can stay ahead of the curve. They are made to order so just know that it is a waiting period that is on the listing. 🌱 Get yours here :https://www.samantharei.com/shop

Thank you to my two beautiful clients for sending me these joyful videos! is wearing the children's version (which is bigger because it's meant to be a cape for a kiddo) with a Renaissance festival look and is wearing the grown up version with her cute pink dress.
