The Marilyn Johnson Sewing Design Studio, LLC is a multifaceted design studio that specializes in the fabric arts. We provide custom orders for weddings, prom, galas and other formal or costumed events, cosplay, tailoring services, and theatrical builds and rentals. If you got an email from me asking for money, it's a hoax. I just got a phone call from a friend asking if I was out of town...I am not...and I am not asking for money, gift cards or anything else.
Fortunately, my friend knows me well enough to check out the fishy details before sending money to "help" me and let me know there is a scam going on using my name.
I don't know where else this might show up and I don't know who in my email address book may have been contacted so my best effort to counter this scam is to post on FB that it is a fake. I would never, ever ask for money in this way.
Please don't fall for a scam.

Just a quick reminder that the Studio is open every Monday and Friday from Noon to 5pm for our closing sale or by appointment other days....call 301-604-4139.
I've discounted all those gorgeous garments we designed, you know, the ones we posted on IG and some of you modeled. And, I still have almost 2000 patterns, tons of costumes, yards and yards of fabric, lots of notions, several sewing machines, a floor loom, a couple of table looms, and soooo much more! All has to go!

I'd like to start off by thanking everyone who came to my Retirement Sale party last week! It was wonderful to see so many of you and feel your support and appreciation of what I've accomplished over the past 24 years. The trip down memory lane with you was fun and brought home that even the smallest thing has meaning and makes an impression in ways I didn't always realize. Thank you! And I hope each of you enjoys wearing all those beautiful garments you bought!

Now for an update for those of you who couldn't make it last week or who want to come back and shop some more. I will have the Studio open for shopping on Mondays and Fridays from Noon to 5pm every week to the end of January at least. If you can't make it on a Monday or Friday, give me a call at 301-604-4139 and we can schedule a time just for you.
There's still a ton of costumes, my designs, fabrics, notions and equipment to browse thru so come see me!

As part of our Studio closing I will be hosting a Retirement Party Sale on Thursday, December 8th from 3 - 7 pm! I hope you will be able to come...I have lots of beautiful clothes for sale from beach wraps to Inaugural Ball worthy gowns. You can also take a peak at the costumes, fabrics and notions that are also for sale. If you can't make the Party Sale, call me for an appointment to come take a look.

This is Katie. She is wearing a 2 pc ensemble. The fabric is purple woven with gold metallic threads to create stripes. We played with the directionality of the stripes to create a unique look. The skirt is a double circle that gives it incredible fullness and the bodice balances out with a sweetheart neckline and flared sleeve caps. Start 2022 with a one of a kind fashion statement!
