I have to recognize the passing of this amazing lady. I owe my love of heirloom sewing and smocking in huge part to her. She has left a wonderful legacy that will extend for generations to come. Our prayers are with her family at this time of their loss.

A couple outfits made a few years ago. I’ll tag the magazine when I get back home to North Carolina. It was an issue of Classic Sewing Magazine, just can’t recall the year and issue number. I do know that I worked on these while visiting family in Alabama.

What an opportunity we now have to contribute in some small way. Here’s a link if you’d like to sew masks for your local hospital during this time of quarantine.

1- Identify a hospital or facility that is in need of face masks.
2- Sew masks for them.
3- Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Feel free to post in comments, information about hospitals, facilities, or groups that are collecting masks.

DISCLAIMER: While hand sewn face masks are not ideal compared to FDA cleared surgical masks, they are an approved option when no cleared surgical masks are available. (Link below)
In other words, hand sewn masks are better than nothing. Let’s make sure we give our health care providers a fighting chance.
