Tried one of the animals from a new pattern I bought. I liked how easy they could be stand alone blocks turned into various small projects. This one will end up a wall hanging. Wouldn't they be cute as pockets on a tote? Maybe even an apron.... hmmm... It comes from the Pattern, Fab Farm by Elizabeth Hartman.

Have you ever heard of a quillow? It is a quilt that folds up into a pillow, and makes it easy to pack and take along. I'm sending this one as part of a gift for a one year old grandson. Thinking the parents might get a kick out of having an easy to pack play blanket for the little one when they are out on their adventures. Finished this one a bit early. It is the American Patchwork & Quilting's sew along called Points of Interest. Mine will be a Quilt of Valor for a friend's husband, and just love how it turned out. I have EQ8 and was able to download the pattern. However, I decided to go a bit of a different route with the top and bottom border. It will be off to the quilting que of The Night Owl Quilts at The Scrappy Owl Quilt Shop.

READER TIP: To join strips with diagonal seams, I overlap the two pieces of fabric with right sides together and corners offset. Then I align the 1/4" mark of the ruler where the strips overlap so the 45-degree line is even with the edge of the bottom fabric strip. I cut both layers of fabric and sew the strips together using a 1/4" seam allowance.
