Today was one of those days that reminded me what entrepreneurship really looks like.

My assistant experienced an emergency. A venue delay threw my schedule completely off. From the moment I woke up, it felt like I was adapting to one thing after another.

Even so, I had the privilege of creating and installing an 8-foot custom photo experience for the Unity Exchange Black Business Expo. Before leaving, I was unexpectedly presented with a personalized plaque recognizing my contributions to the Daddy Daughter Dance initiative. What made it even more special was realizing the design featured on the plaques was one I created.

Then came the plot twist.

I dropped a cake.

After everything else the day had already thrown at me, I found myself having to make a decision. The client was immediately notified, refunded in full, and the cake will be remade later this week as a content cake at no cost to them.

Because I may have dropped a cake, but I didn’t drop the ball.

Anybody can stand behind their work when everything goes right. Integrity shows up when it doesn’t.

Today cost me time.
Today cost me money.
But today also reminded me how far I’ve come.

A day that started with setbacks ended with recognition.

A day that included a loss also included a reminder that the work I’m doing matters.

Today wasn’t perfect, but it was still a win.
