ng the day I became one with the rocks …

Moments in our lives that have shaped us will always remain vivid if we allow them too. Remembering the day I became one with the rocks, I was just a young toddler maybe five or six when my Mom took my sisters and I on a visit to Utah’s infamous Timpanogos Cave National Monument. I remember how dark it felt, cold and slippery in some parts it was. But most of all I remember how scared I became from the steep incline down from the trail we took exploring. As I placed myself on my bottom, clinging on for dear life. I remember sliding down what felt like a 90’ degree Rock walkway all while thinking about how I was going to fall and about to die. Well guess not…because some stories were meant to be told! I can still hear my sisters yelling at me to stand up, with tears running down my face. What had this extraordinary piece of earth done to me? I made it to the bottom and that is all that mattered. Since this unforgettable day, I have always had a gravitational pull towards this planet and all its natural creations. I guess it is part of my DNA after hearing stories of my Grandfathers passion for collecting Rocks and Agates of all kinds. Or maybe its from growing up in sunny Florida hunting drift wood and sea shells with my Mom, ‘aka’ fossils from the oceans many species. She handed her love for fossils down to me and now me to my own children. Regardless, for every handpicked beauty found in a Kentucky creek bed or from the Indian tribes down in the Santa Fe market places of beautiful New Mexico. I will always find a bitter sweet good bye to each piece we have in our boutique. Its like watching the currants of this life pick them up and carry them away to their new homes. Always hoping they land in the right hands and not on someone’s head. :)

Our prayer is that you find the same joy as My familia has hunting ‘POMs’ and even sometimes throwing them….lol. But most importantly, we hope they bring a fond memory, smile and maybe an untold story from days gone.
