“You’re so resilient!” Babe, I have influenza A, a tiara, and a non-refundable booking. This isn’t resilience. This is show business. 👑💀🎧 Chic Sounds Event, Wedding, Corporate

Compartmentalizing and disassociating

Baby CC, I’d already been in Hollywood for six years. I was Queen of the Night Scene. I’d been in bands for years. Then I started DJing.

And somehow… I’m still DJing.

Some of the people from those days are dead.
Some are alive.
Some are incredibly famous.

And I’m a baby mama with an eight-year-old asking me why there’s no food in the house while I’m standing directly in front of $187 worth of groceries.

Honestly, Hollywood has such beautiful range.

I used to be backstage wondering who was on the guest list. Now I’m backstage at elementary school wondering why I forgot it was Pajama Day.

Same woman. Different laminates.

And the funniest part is—I’m still here. Still making music. Still DJing. Still occasionally standing in a nightclub at an hour when a woman my age should statistically be comparing magnesium supplements online.

Not famous. Not dead.

Honestly, that feels like a pretty solid third option.
