At the age of 10, my meme introduced me to knitting and crochet. I immediately fell in love with the process, watching a simple ball of yarn transform into various

shapes with just a hook or needles. Now, years later, my passion for these crafts has only grown stronger. Each time I sit down to knit or crochet, it feels like a therapeutic escape from the chaotic pace of daily life. As one enjoys creating, seeing others appreciate my work is an added bonus. In 2023, I launched my Hugs for Heads business as a tribute to my dear friend Denise who passed away after battling cancer for years. During her hair loss journey, she struggled to find headwear that made her feel confident and beautiful. That's when I made her a hat that became known as "My Denise". Her smile said it all - she felt pretty again. My goal with this collection is to bring comfort and joy to anyone facing illness or simply looking for something special to wear. A portion of all proceeds will go to the Cancer Support Fund of Central Mass in loving memory of Denise Downes♡ & Virginia Tocci♡

This bag sat on the hook for hours before it ever sat on a bench. The textured yellow and brown sunflower on the front, the little bobble blooms on the sides, the soft off-white body, all crocheted slowly right here in the studio and finished with sturdy black circular handles.

Roomy enough for sunscreen, a paperback, a peach from the farmstand, and your phone with room to spare.

Third wear this week and it still feels like the first 🤍

I love seeing how you actually live in these pieces. No fancy studio lights, no stiff styling. Just a cozy morning mirror selfie, this white summer cover top layered over everyday denim shorts.

When I sit at my Leominster studio table to crochet these tops, I make sure the open stitch pattern feels lighter than it looks. Every loop is stitched by hand, creating a soft, breathable drape that moves with you through the warmest days.

You can feel the hours the moment it settles on your head. That's the weight of handmade. 🧶

Meet "My Denise" — a slouchy chunky beanie stitched in blues, greens, browns, pinks, and a soft white, finished with an oversized pom and a tiny tag that means it came from my hooks to your story.

Every loop was pulled by hand. Every color was chosen on purpose. The yarn carries the warmth, but the hat carries the why behind Hugs for Heads, in memory of Denise Downes and in support of the Cancer Support Fund of Central Mass.

Two colleagues asked where it was from. Today. 🌸

It's this cream crochet top, and honestly, those moments make all the slow hours worth it. Every oversized flower was crocheted separately, then hand-stitched onto the bodice one by one, petal-side up, until the whole bodice bloomed.

You can feel that quiet, careful work in the bell sleeves. They have weight. They have movement. They have hours of Kelly's hands in them.

Every stitch has a story. This one took hours. 🧶

The coral and beige patchwork sleeve she's adjusting? Each square was hooked one at a time, right here in the studio, then stitched together into a sweater meant to be lived in.

Lazy mornings in the armchair. Coffee in hand. Plants doing their thing overhead. That's exactly the kind of moment I picture when I'm making a piece like this.

Open-stitch, buttery soft, and a little bit warmer than it looks. I love seeing this one out in the wild, on a real person, in a real cozy moment.

Forty-something hours. One square at a time.

That's what's swinging from her shoulder out in the field right now. A black canvas of color-blocked granny squares, deep red handles, and enough room for sunscreen, a paperback, two peaches, and whatever else summer asks you to carry.

Every single square was hooked by hand in my studio here in Leominster. No two totes ever come out quite the same, which is kind of the whole point of slow, handmade work.

This one is made to be carried everywhere. Field, farmers market, front porch, repeat. 🧶
