This is the final baby blanket product, to match the pillow posted a couple of weeks ago. It is made from the same bridal gown, with pieces of the lace from both the body of the gown, and the beautiful lace along the hem and train. The grandmother is presenting them to her daughter for her first grandchild at the shower ❤️🍼👶

I’ve been snowed in, but working for hours to create this custom pillow for a client out of her bridal gown. There are yards of lace and it took time to deconstruct the gown for the lace and the lace inserts and pearl/ sequins for the pillow. There is still a baby blanket in progress. All of this is a very special item for her expected grandchild, and will be presented at a baby shower. 🍼👶❤️

This dress was my young client’s aunt’s wedding dress. She asked me to transform into a homecoming dress for her! It was a great challenge, and I removed the belt, sleeves and cut the hem to be significantly shorter. I used the beautiful flat lace overlay from the skirt to become straps for the shoulders. Also, the original dress was at least 5 sizes bigger than the finished dress.

I can’t wait to hear her aunt’s reaction to the change, and also to see so the Homecoming photos in a few weeks.

Here are more samples of the recent run of gowns and formals for the upcoming fall wedding season. The yellow dress was a particular challenge , taking it up from the top tier, and bring the back train to meet the front level. The bridesmaid was very pleased.
It was VERY busy in August, with lots of other work. September is already off to a busy start!

This bedskirt was king sized. My client asked me to downsize it to a queen. The end piece, by the foot of the bed, was detached, so I had to cut this down, do a lot of gathering on a decorator fabric, and attach it to match the length of the other two sides.

It’s been a busy month of sewing challenges and learning opportunities. Here are some examples. I took these dresses for young girls and had to change the necklines, front and back, make a matching diaper cover, hem, and lengthen the sleeve. I was provided with an extra dress for matching material to create the necessary changes.
