The Kith (friends and customers):

I became a business by accident. Years ago as I stretched my creative legs and fell more in love with the worlds of knitting and crochet I began making gifts for friends and family, then people began asking if I could make things for them too, next friends of friends would ask and so before I knew it and without planning I had myself little business. In the be

ginning I sold my items at local craft fairs and small shops, then as the demand grew I moved to an online presence usnig Etsy (which I no longer use) and facebook. I have now been making custom orders and selling my creations for well over a decade. It is because of the support from customers, friends and family that I have made it this far. The Kin (family):

At the heart of why I do what I do is the legacy I received from the women in my family who were involved in the fabric arts, my mother and grandmothers quilted, sewed and crocheted. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was a little girl and my mom has coached me in sewing over the years (with some help along the way from a fellow employee at former job). Then as an adult I added knitting along with dabbling in embroidery. I'm in love with the heritage these women have passed on to me. I have sweet memories of watching them create something out of fabric and yarn and am honored to be following in thier footsteps by continuing these useful skills and art form.

Just look at this fun fabric I picked up at Little Golden Fox in Madison.
I'm excited to see how cute it will be as a liner for the bag I'm working on.
While I'm thinking about the fabric I want to once again give a shout out to the shop. Whenever I visit the shop my creative spirit lights up!

The shop isn't just for quilters and sewers, there's pottery to paint and classes to take! It's truly a bright and inspirational space for any creative person! It's connected to Growing Minds Farm Stop. Growing Minds is a genius concept, run by local students providing local produce, meat and dairy as well as locally crafted items for the community to purchase.
So grab some coffee and a treat at Growing Minds Farm Stop to feed your belly then head into Little Golden Fox to feed your creative mind!

This crochet ladybug hair barrette was one of many different hair barrettes and clips I was making. They were very popular in the shops and at the festivals.
How far I've come!

While I'm continuing to work on the granny square bag, I thought I'd share some more pictures that my customer shared of her sweet cat wearing the sweater I knit for her.
Thank you Morgan for being such a sweet and fun customer to work with!

I give you Chickolas Cage, an emotional support chicken.

During my journey through surgery and chemo a sweet friend gifted me a knitting kit for this guy. It was such a thoughtful and perfect gift. It blessed my heart that she knew having something to knit would mean so much. I worked on him my body and mind allowed me. I finally finished him! He's a handsome fella and makes me smile!

The kit is from The Knitting Tree, L.A.

Working on a granny square project that's been in time out and keeping my thoughts on what's next.

It's been a start-stop journey back post chemo. I was told that even though treatment is over the journey isn't. I thought I understood that but until I hit that part of the adventure I didn't fully appreciate what that meant.

In general for each treatment it can take 2 months recovery to just make it to the pre treatment baseline, of course that can vary depending on other factors (the person, the type of chemo, other circumstances).
I'm making progress for sure, it's just not a straight path, it's more hills and curves!

So I'm still working a bit slower, my focus and concentration aren't as sharp, and my body simply gets tired sooner than it used to but,
while I'm on this up, down, windy adventure, having knitting, crochet and my other interests has been good medicine and I have so many ideas and so much to look forward to.
