Hi, friends! September’s Mini Me picks are H E R E! With Wildwood coming to theaters in October it was an easy choice to base this month’s selections around the first fabulous book in the series! If you haven’t read Wildwood, by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis yet… this is the perfect time. Ages 9+ and NOTE this book is thick!

Common threads between all of our September Mini Me options are daring main characters, adventures, magic and of course… the wild woods!

As with previous months we have multiple choices for different age ranges. UNlike previous months… our adult pick is actually YA! I read The Wild Huntress, by Emily Lloyd-Jones a few years back found it to be absolutely enchanting. This is a great pick for adults or teens!

We also have The Wolf Suit, by Sid Sharp (I reeeeally waffled between this and Bog Myrtle, also by Sid Sharp) for early chapter readers, or as a great read-aloud. This one has a bit of a spooky feel… and a fabulous twist at the end! Ages 6+

And lastly, every family should own a copy of Little Witch Hazel: A Year in the Forest by Phoebe Wahl. No great battles in this one, but Hazel’s life in the forest always captivates! Ages 4+ (but really, all ages!)

Mini Me bundles are available for purchase on our website for all of September (link in bio)! We order all books after the online order is placed, so please allow a few days for your books to arrive in the shop. And don’t forget… after 6 orders you get a free set of tote bags!

Our first birthday party was just incredible! It was so much fun to see so many of you back in the shop for story time, burritos, ice cream, music, face painting, leg painting (yes), crafts, specials, books, books and more books! So many birthday wishes, lots of gifts (VERY unexpected! 🥹🫶), we had just a fabulous day. Love you all so much!!!

Hi, friends! We officially made it one year! I’ll do a post with pics from yesterday’s event which was absolutely epic and full of love and sweetness and magic. In the meantime… a little note about our first year (and also thanks for humoring us during this birthday week😂)

We intended to open a bookstore for the love of reading, and books and sharing stories and adventures… and also to help build a community of friends and neighbors and to stand for the things that matter when the world feels hard to live in.

What I’ve learned this past year (one thing among so many) is that this community that has grown over the past year wasn’t built by us or by any one person or group. We just created a safe space for the flames that already exist, and have been absolutely amazed and honored to watch them grow in our cozy little spot. There are so many incredible folks in our corner of the world that are doing such amazing things, and I feel lucky every day to be able to partner with y’all and stand with you and do this thing together.

And to you, dear friends: thank you for showing up over and over again, for shopping with us when it would be easier to order online, for spreading the word, for supporting us last year before we even opened, for humoring my many, many ideas for things that may or may not work, for trusting us with your wildlings and for just being there with us. Your enthusiasm, friendship, support and loyalty keeps us going every day. We love you! ❤️

Introducing... Wildlings Bookshop Tinned Minis!

I’ve been dreaming of these pocket sized adventures since before wildlings even opened! Seems appropriate to introduce them the day before our anniversary party 🐭

Think: mini magical mushroom garden meets open ended play in a charming reusable tin ❤️ each tinned mini is packaged with a tiny rainbow clay set for extra imaginative play!

Our tinned minis are created in-house with love. each one is unique! each tinned mini includes treasures which may vary from season to season and may include objects that are vintage, repurposed or natural and can be used and re-used in endless ways for open-ended play.

Presenting our September team-up with and Wildlings Bookshop! September 19 at 4pm TrainMovePlay is dropping the weights and picking up a book on one of our favorite topics… the enneagram! If you’ve not gone through the process, or if it’s been a while (🙋‍♀️) join us, along with Dr. Meghan Jones, MD and Raven Piercey for a couple of hours to focus on all things enneagram!

Learn your type (or refresh!) to understand your inner strengths and motivations and use it to handle stress as we enter the busy fall season ❤️

Session is beginner friendly (adults 21+) and includes:

✨The book: Essential Enneagram: The definitive Personality Test and Self-Discovery Guide by David Daniels and Virginia Price
✨Mini notebook and pen
✨Grounding meditation session, lots of discussion, resources and continuing practices
✨Plus a few light snacks

It will be held at TrainMovePlay’s space at 326 N. Ashland.

Order by September 13; books and gear will be picked up at the event on the September 19!

Hi, friends! Save the date, Lauren from Centered Holistic Health is BACK for yoga story time on Saturday, September 5 at 10:30! We’ll be reading Andy J. Pizza and Sophie Miller’s invisible things (this book is pure magic!)

If you missed our yoga story time last fall with Lauren … it was an absolute delight! There will be a similar format this time around with some stretching, deep breathing, wiggles and giggles!

No equipment necessary, just bring yourselves! ❤️❤️
