Rose Pohlar has been quilting since she was a little girl and has always loved it. When she married and had her first child, she wanted to find a way to work and still be at home for her first child. It was then in December of 1987 that she and her husband Kenny opened Pohlar Fabrics in one bay of their garage. Originally, the store carried a very small amount of fabric and focused on rug weaving,

but as quilting became such a popular pastime, they added more fabrics and accessories to support the quilting world. Now their store is tailored almost exclusively to quilters. Over the years the store grew, adding more space several times to their original location. In January of 2017 Pohlar Fabrics moved into their current location which is 4 1/2 times bigger than their original location. For the past 33 years, Rose has run her business and raised her children and now 4 grandchildren from her business. Rose’s daughter Megan manages the shop for her parents. Megan, who made her first quilt at 9 and has currently designed 75 quilt patterns including 3 BOM series of her own, brings in a younger generation perspective that has added new life to the shop. Pohlar Fabric carries the original pattern designs of both Rose Pohlar and Megan Pohlar-McGuire. Rose specializes in purses and Twister patterns. Megan designs quilts, patterns using panels and has 3 Block of the Month series. We are a certified BERNINA Sales and Service center. Servicing all makes and models of sewing machines. We currently carry over 7,000 bolts of quality quilting cottons from Moda, Benartex, Riley Blake, Henry Glass just to name a few. We carry Valdani floss and Peral cotton for hand embroidery and cross-stitch. Isacord, Aurifil, Mettler, and Signature are a few of the lines of thread we carry. If we do not have what you are looking for, we will be glad to order it for you. We offer machine quilting at a reasonable rate. Call us for more info. Dear Quilty Friends,

We wanted to take a moment to share a quick behind-the-scenes update on how our inventory and Block of the Month (BOM) programs work, especially when it comes to delivery timelines.

When we enroll in a BOM program or order standard collection yardage with a fabric manufacturer—often 8 months in advance—we are given an estimated ship date. We build our shop’s schedule, pre-orders, and BOM launch dates around that timeline. However, if the manufacturer experiences production or transit delays, our fabric shipments are delayed as well.

Because we cannot cut bolts or build and ship BOM kits without the fabric in hand, these manufacturer delays impact both our regular inventory releases and our program start dates. While these supply chain shifts are entirely out of our hands, we know how eager you are to receive your fabrics and get started on your projects!

How we handle delay updates:

Direct Communication: Whenever a shipment is delayed—whether for a BOM kit or a regular fabric collection—we will email you immediately to keep you in the loop.

Timeline Updates: If we share an estimated update window (for example, "by the end of August"), please rest assured you will hear from us before that window closes—even if it's on the very last day of the month.

We will never hold back fabric or BOM programs once we have the materials; our goal is always to get these beautiful fabrics into your hands as fast as humanly possible.
