👉 shoptheturnedleg.com I believe that everyone should have the right to a beautiful home. As a former teacher and single mother with a very limited budget I had to get creative. I love to thrift and go junking and even find a curbside treasure. I get so excited to bring new life int

o pieces that people think are worthless. Painting and restoring helps me destress from the craziness of life. There are many people who love to save good junk like I do and I love to share what I find and what I know with them. Everyone who helps me save the treasures and make them pretty again I call my Junk Army. What a strong group of amazingly creative people. This passion has grown into a small business and allowed me to retire from teaching and do this full-time. I love to wake up each day and do what I love. I also love to get to spend extra time with my daughter. I use DIY Paint, Sweet Pickins Milk Paint, and JRV products and more to make everything pretty again. I sell all of my furniture, home decor, salvage, antiques and more in my booth at Plaza Antiques & Collectibles Mall, 2621 Dix Highway in Lincoln Park, MI. I also have an online store at shoptheturnedleg.com. I also sell items for others to finish their own projects or even start new ones. My goal is to help to teach others to see the value in "junk", join my Junk Army & get out there to salvage, repurpose & create.

One of my favorite things is finding those cool, one-of-a-kind pieces and bringing them together to create a space that feels collected, interesting and pretty. ❤️
Then I get to watch them leave one by one as they find their forever homes.
Of course, that just gives me an excuse to go find more. 😂
The booth is full of new finds right now — come take a look!

Fall is starting to sneak into the booth. 🍂

The warm colors, the old baskets, the pumpkins and all those little vintage pieces that just feel like fall.

I know it’s still August…but I’m ready. ❤️

Guess what I’ve been up to? 👀

Something is happening in my booth…and apparently I decided the best way to start was to take everything out. 😂

Any guesses what I’m up to?

And while we’re at it…what are you hoping I bring back in? ❤️

Happy National Dog Day to my furry — and very spoiled — friend, George! 🐾❤️

He may be little, but he definitely runs the house. 😂

Drop a picture of your furry friends below so we can celebrate them too! 🐶🐾

This is my daughter, April. ❤️

Back in 2013, when I started my business, she was one of my biggest encouragers — and one of my best little helpers.

Over the years, not much has changed…except now she seems to think I can pretty much do anything I set my mind to. 😂

April has always been there cheering me on through every crazy idea, every new adventure and every “I think I’m going to try this…” moment. I truly don’t think I would be where I am today without her encouragement and belief in me.

But today, it’s my turn to be the one cheering.

Today is April’s first day of college. ❤️

I am so incredibly proud of the young woman she has become and so excited to see where this next chapter takes her.

April, you have spent years reminding me that I can do anything I set my mind to.

Now I hope you always remember the same thing about yourself.

You can do anything you set your mind to, too.

I’ll be right here cheering you on every step of the way. ❤️

Sometimes we just need a little break from the busy world. ❤️

And being creative doesn’t have to mean starting a huge project.

What if you gave yourself a few quiet minutes in the morning to journal, make your to-do list, jot down ideas…or simply play with paper and stamps?

The new IOD A Timely Tale Mini Stamp Set is such a fun starting point for this. It has the calendar, letters and numbers you’d expect for journaling, but it’s all the little extras that I love—flowers, butterflies, animals and tiny details you can tuck in anywhere.

I’ve been playing around with it in an old book, layering papers, stamping little details and making space for ideas as they come.

Nothing complicated. Nothing that has to be perfect.

Just a few minutes to slow down and create. ❤️

Maybe that’s a pretty good way to start the day.

This was the BEFORE. 😳

I’m always amazed by how much work goes into having a vintage booth. Moving furniture, reworking displays, filling holes…and somehow one little change turns into an entire booth makeover. 😂

Want to come behind the scenes with me?

My newest video is up now on my YouTube channel — The Turned Leg! ❤️

Sometimes the best part of an antique is the part nobody was ever meant to see. ❤️
I just found this old table, and underneath is this worn railway label from the London & South Western Railway Company.
Who put it there? Where did this table travel? Who owned it before me?
This is why I love antiques so much.
They don’t just have age.
They have stories.

Well I think it has been a productive day. Worked on prepping a bunch of new pieces…only 500 more steps to go!
