Not every vintage find needs a full makeover.

This sweet vintage sewing box already had beautiful bones. The original lace was still attached, the measuring tape was tucked inside, and all it really needed was a little gentle love.

I added a vintage hook-and-eye card, dressed up a few wooden thread spools with vintage rick rack, tucked in some extra greenery and florals, and gave a damaged pair of vintage scissors a second chance as part of the display.

One of my favorite things about thrifting is finding a new purpose for pieces that might otherwise be overlooked. Those old scissors came from a box lot and weren't in perfect condition, but they were far too beautiful to throw away.

The result is a charming sewing-themed decor piece that celebrates the history of the original box instead of covering it up.

Sometimes restoration looks less like paint and power tools and more like preserving the story that was already there.

Rip-Off of the Week 🚨

Victoria begged me to stop at Goodwill. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you already know I’m not exactly a fan. 😅

And then we found this…

An EMPTY Clinique bottle priced at $1.99. Not a full bottle. Not even a partially full bottle. Just a tiny bit of liquid rolling around in the bottom.

Can someone explain why this made it onto the sales floor? Who looked at this and thought, “Yep, someone will want to buy that”?

I love a good treasure hunt, but this one had me scratching my head. Sometimes thrifting is finding hidden gems, and sometimes it’s finding an empty bottle with a price tag. 😂

🌸 My very first peony of the season bloomed today, and every year it feels just as special.

People often ask where the name Peony Lane Designs came from, and the answer is simple. I absolutely love peonies.

What I love most is that peonies take their time. They don’t rush. They spend years establishing strong roots before rewarding you with those breathtaking blooms. When they finally flower, they are bold, beautiful, and impossible to ignore.

Maybe that’s why I’ve always connected with them. Like a peony, it took me a long time to put down roots, learn, grow, and become who I am today. And now, it feels like it’s finally time to bloom.

Replacing patio cushions can cost a small fortune. So instead of buying new, I decided to see if I could save the ones I already had with outdoor fabric paint.
