Remembering Jerry Garcia on the anniversary of his Birthday. 🕊️

Jerome John Garcia (August 1, 1942 – August 9, 1995) Jerry had a very rich and interesting life and there were so many moving pieces and faces and phases that when attempting any kind of retrospective like this it’s impossible to not leave something out. One of the things that can get overlooked is that Jerry and the Grateful Dead performed at Woodstock. The main reason for that is because like quite a few of the bands that performed there, they didn’t appear in the Movie 🎥 which is the way an overwhelming number of people experience Woodstock. The band judged their performance to be a disaster, and the band declined to have any material from their set released on the Woodstock soundtrack album. Additionally, the stage lighting had been so poor during their set that what little film footage that was actually shot was all but unusable, meaning that their performance was not included in the Woodstock movie, nor on the soundtrack album.

Their performance late Saturday night into Sunday morning at Woodstock was not considered one of their best, largely due to weather, sound equipment problems that caused long delays, and an almost completely dark stage. Yet they persisted. Here are the Grateful Dead personnel and set list for their Woodstock 1969 performance:

Grateful Dead Band Members:
* Jerry Garcia: guitar, vocals
* Bob Weir: guitar
* Ron "Pigpen" McKernan: keyboards, vocals
* Tom Constanten: keyboards, vocals
* Phil Lesh: bass
* Bill Kreutzmann: drums
* Mickey Hart: drums
*
Grateful Dead Woodstock Setlist:
* Saint Stephen
* Mama Tried
* Dark Star
* High Time
* Turn on Your Lovelight

As today IS “Jerry Day” here in San Francisco and throughout the land……
I thought that sharing this memorial Statue commemorating the Great Man and “Cosmic Explorer” would certainly be the way’tgo.
The Jerry Garcia hand statue is a 75-pound bronze sculpture honoring the Grateful Dead guitarist's right hand accurately showing the missing two-thirds of his right middle finger on his guitar-picking hand, (which he lost in a childhood wood-chopping accident at age four).
It was created by artist Tom White, mounted on a small boulder and installed in early September 2009 at the Santa Barbara Bowl, with an official dedication ceremony held on November 10, 2010. If you’re a Dead Fan, it would be cool place to make a pilgrimage to. 💀👌🏽

update...
We're getting there!
On Wednesday, the rest of my office, the internet, the cats, and probably my last shred of sanity all make the move to his house. 😂
That leaves us with 11 days to get everything else moved out, scrub this house from top to bottom, and hand over the keys.
It's a little stressful, a little exciting, and I'm definitely running on caffeine and exhaustion at this point. One box at a time. We've got this.
Wish us luck... and maybe send coffee. ☕💜

Hi! I'm Julia, the artist behind Hippie Kissed.
Every tie-dyed shirt, hoodie, dress, pair of socks, pet harness, and colorful creation you see here is made with love right here in Arkansas.
I don't believe clothes should come off an assembly line looking exactly the same. I believe they should have personality, tell a story, and make you smile the moment you put them on.
When you shop with Hippie Kissed, you're supporting a real small business. You're helping me buy dye, keep creating, travel to local vendor markets, and continue doing what I love.

Here's what you'll find here:
🌼 One-of-a-kind hand tie-dyed clothing 🌼 Handmade bohemian accessories 🌼 Colorful gifts for free spirits 🌼 Behind-the-scenes looks at the tie-dye process 🌼 Vendor market updates across Arkansas 🌼 Plenty of peace, love, laughter, and probably a few cat photos.
If you're new here, say hello! I'd love to know where you're from.
