The magic of Halloween has drifted past the village, and a hush has settled over the castle as the days wander toward the holidays. The shopkeepers are busy with preparations to delight the villagers as they look for treasures to surprise their friends and family in the coming weeks.

The change in seasons is well underway. There is a chill in the air, the wind blows a frigid kiss, and mornings begin with a silver coat of frost on every rooftop and windowpane. An old, familiar smell tickles the nose, the first fires of the season, keeping the cottages warm and cozy. All around the village, the last of the yardwork is underway, for everyone knows what is coming: the snow and cold that always seem to last forever.

But before the quiet settles in, one more bit of Halloween magic deserves to be told. Those who stayed until dark at Snarfinkels saw something nobody has ever seen before. The LED fog machines hidden on the castle walls sprayed fire into the night!

The shopkeepers had such a good time visiting with all the tiny ghosts and goblins who came to call. Every little costume was a delight, and the turnout warmed their hearts more than any fire could.

This week, the shop has four gourmet coffees brewing this week, brewed fresh to keep the villagers warm:

☕ Candlelight Cottage
☕ Fairytale Frosting
☕ Cobblestone Crumble
☕ Schnitzen Giggles

So bundle up, wander in from the cold, and let the shopkeepers pour you a steaming cup to accompany your treats!

🎃Happy Halloween Villagers!!🎃

The little red door of Snarfinkels will open wide for special Halloween hours today, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visit before 10:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m. if your little villagers tend to get a little squirmy and would like to miss the biggest crowd.

The shopkeepers, it seems, are glutton for punishment. They have decided to give away free pumpkin squishees and pixie sticks to the first 500 little villagers who come through the door today. Whether they can keep up with the crowd remains to be seen, but they are quite determined to try.

Costumes are not required, but oh, how the shopkeepers would love to see their little friends all dressed up! Witches, wizards, ghosts, and goblins are all most welcome. Capture their magic forever in front of one of the 6 Halloween photography backdrops!

Later this evening, Jake and Renee from Mischief and Magic will be paying a visit to the village. What sort of surprises might be hiding up their sleeves? Perhaps some balloon animals? A bit of magic? Maybe even stiltwalking and fire eating? Ah, but that is a mystery, and the shopkeepers are not telling. You will simply have to come and see for yourselves. ✨

Meanwhile, Chef Sara has been hard at work, stocking the shelves with her gourmet caramel apples and Halloween cutout cookies. They are quite the treat, and they will not last long!

Mother Nature herself has blessed the village with a beautiful, overcast Fall day, just the sort of day for a spooky stroll down the cobblestone path.

So come one, come all, and have a happy, happy Halloween at Snarfinkels! You can even wish the shopkeeper Paul a Happy Birthday! 👻

🎃 A Halloween Tale from Snarfinkels 🎃

After several long nights (and one very joyful night celebrating the Milwaukee Brewers World Series Championship!), the seating area at Snarfinkels is finally taking shape for Halloween. Now the shopkeepers peek out the storefront windows and wonder aloud what in the world this Saturday might bring.

You see, only one Saturday ago, the good villagers came in such great numbers that the line stretched on for two and a half hours. The shopkeepers are still catching up, and they are a wee bit frightened of what Halloween itself may bring. (They are also very, very grateful.)

The seating area has been transformed with six enchanted Halloween backdrops, from candy-striped storefronts to lantern-lit cobblestone lanes where ghosts and skeletons lurk. Grab a cozy table, sip something warm, and step right into the story. All villagers are welcome to take a spooky family picture in front of their favorite Halloween scene!

Saturday, Halloween Day
Doors open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All the little villagers who arrive dressed in their favorite costume will receive a free pumpkin squishy toy. 🎃

And as the afternoon fades and the sun slips away, the purple lights will glow to life. The shopkeepers have a little fun planned for that magical hour, though they will not say what. It will be the very first time Snarfinkels has ever been open after dark, which seems a fitting thing to happen on Halloween, wouldn’t you say?

Come early, come hungry, and perhaps bring a little patience, for Halloween is almost here! 👻

🎃 All Hallows Eve is upon us! 🎃

Sophie has been peeking out from behind the counter all morning, watching the shopkeepers work tirelessly to create special treats for the week that holds Halloween. There are so many goodies to pick from, she can hardly decide where to look first!

There are five kinds of Halloween Scratch and Sniff Stickers, pumpkin and ghost squishies, candy corn and gummy pumpkins, and light-up Halloween rings. The shelves hold the Autumn coffee bean flavors Headless Horseman and Wicked Witch, ready to be taken home and enjoyed.

And new for this week only, Chef Sara has created gourmet Halloween caramel apples, along with spooky Halloween boxes filled with three decorated cookies.

The shopkeepers are stocked up well, but they are expecting an even bigger crowd than last Saturday, the one that saw a line outside the little red door for two and a half hours! Smart villagers will come earlier in the week to avoid the crowd.

If there is something a villager simply must have, they should let the shopkeepers know. They will gladly set aside some goodies for you, because once the shelves are bare, the goodies are gone 'til next year!👻

In a not too distant land, in a quiet hollow near the village, there stands a little stone castle called Snarfinkels. 🏰

Many travelers have wandered from near and far to discover it, but nearly every one of them came when the sun was high in the sky. And so they never learned the castle’s secret.

When the sun slips behind the hills and the sky fades to darkness, the castle comes alive! A haunting glow emanates from under the shingles, and an eerie Halloween purple washes over the stonework where shadows dance beneath the light. Golden lanterns flicker beside the doors, as if to say, “Come in, friend, the kettle’s on.” A quiet reverence settles over the night, and the castle stands in silent beauty, waiting for anyone brave enough to see it. 💜

Meanwhile, the shopkeepers have been whispering and scheming. Something small and secret is brewing for All Hallow’s Eve! On October 31st, the castle doors may stay open late, perhaps all the way until 8 p.m. And for the children of the village who arrive in their Halloween costumes, the shopkeepers are planning a little surprise. Details will arrive next week, so keep your ears open. 🎃

The surprise will be a small one this year, for the shopkeepers’ attention is elsewhere. They are working ‘round the clock to build a cozy seating nook inside and to close in the little castle addition before the winter frost settles in for its long stay.

In the meantime, the cauldrons are full and the taps are flowing! Come sip a goblet of Candlelight Cottage, Headless Horseman, Wicked Witch, or Schnitzen Giggles coffee. And the treat shelves are stocked with eight flavors of cake, each baked with a pinch of magic:

Lemon
Strawberry
Orange
Chocolate Chocolate
Chocolate with White Frosting
Sour Cream Raspberry
Carrot
Red Velvet

The weather this weekend promises to be lovely, dear villagers. So wander over to Snarfinkels, treat yourself to something delicious, and perhaps stay long enough to see the castle glow. Next Saturday, costumes are most welcome, for a castle at Halloween is no place for ordinary clothes. ✨

Word has traveled down the cobblestone lane that Emily Beier from WLUK-TV FOX 11 will be paying a visit to Snarfinkels tomorrow (Wednesday 10/21)! Bright and early, before the morning bells have finished their ringing, she will set up shop among the coffee and the bakery treats for four live broadcasts, from 5:45 a.m. until 8:15 a.m.

So tuck in your nightcap, set your clocks, and tune in on your newfangled glass screens. You just might spot a familiar face or two!

🎺 Announcing The New Snarfinkels Workshop Lounge 🎺

Overnight, Jack Frost paid his first visit of the season, and by dawn the lawn wore a coat of silver and the castle turrets were trimmed in sparkling crystals.

But with the chill comes a puzzle for the shopkeepers. When they opened their tiny Victorian boutique, they never dreamed it would become the talk of the village, so indoor seating was never in the plans. That comes later, when the much larger Snarfinkels is finished in about 3 to 4 years. What do they do until then?

They did what any good shopkeeper would. They looked at the warehouse and said, “That will have to make do!”

Soon, a large corner of their workshop will be transformed into a temporary Victorian lounge, and villagers from near and far are invited to come in from the cold, warm their hands around a cup of coffee, enjoy a flaky pastry, and chit-chat for a while.

Now, for all who have wondered what is hiding in the rest of the building, this is your chance to find out! A few lucky villagers have asked to peek behind the curtain, but now everyone can see behind the scenes. Be quick about it, though. Once the Victorian lounge takes shape, the workshop won’t be wide open for much longer.

Keep your eyes peeled and you may notice a few treasures hiding in plain sight. Perched high atop a storage closet, two Star Wars Speeder Bikes have been quietly watching over the workshop this whole time. Tucked in the background, you’ll also spy the fairytale tower roofs, waiting patiently for the day they crown the much larger Snarfinkels.

Heed fair warning, dear villagers: this is a true working industrial lounge, and danger lurks around every corner. On any given day you might spot a shopkeeper welding, powder coating, assembling, shipping, or building something new, with projects both past and present on display. The sounds and the smells will let you know that real magic is being made. So please play it safe and stay in the lounge unless you are accompanied by a shopkeeper.

So from this day forward, all villagers are invited to sit for a spell in the new workshop lounge!

🌍 Guten Tag! The Snarfinkels have gone global! 🌍

Not long ago, in a quaint Wisconsin village, bags and bags of Schnitzen Giggles coffee beans stood watch in their tiny castle, quietly awaiting a home of their own. Little did they know, a grand adventure was brewing.

One day, a lovely villager named Christine stopped in with her daughter Tracie and Tracie’s boyfriend Jonas, who make their home in Cologne, Germany. They filled their bags with several varieties of coffee, and Tracie and Jonas tucked their beans in with great care. But what they didn’t know was that they weren’t traveling home alone...in their luggage hid several stowaways...

Across the ocean they flew, with some adventurous Snarfinkels hiding quietly in the dark, until they touched down in the land of fairy tales, castles, and Christmas markets. Wunderbar! 🏰

Peeking out from the luggage, the stowaways saw our Schnitzen Giggles German Chocolate Cake coffee being held proudly before the Kölner Dom, the Cologne Cathedral. The Snarfinkels’ little hearts skipped a beat at the sight of this Gothic masterpiece. Those spires! Those arches! All that glorious hand-carved stonework! Gothic architecture is what Snarfinkel dreams are made of, and now they have seen it with their own little eyes!

Next was a stroll to the Rhine River and the grand Hohenzollernbrücke, the Hohenzollern Bridge, with the cathedral peeking out behind it like a storybook backdrop.

Then came the most romantic stop of all. The Hohenzollern Bridge is famous as one of the largest “love lock” bridges in Europe, covered in thousands of padlocks; each one a promise left by sweethearts from far and wide. And there, nestled in the middle of all that love, sat our humble bag of Schnitzen Giggles in its new home.

We send a heartfelt Dankeschön to Christine, Tracie, and Jonas for starting this magical journey, and for carrying a little piece of our village (and a few stowaways) across the world. You have made the Snarfinkels’ wildest dreams come true!

The Snarfinkels still can’t believe they traveled so far, and are already dreaming of their next stop. So tell us, do you know of any other far-off lands the Snarfinkels have traveled to?

🏰 A Vexxing Question at Snarfinkels 🏰

On this ominous morning, when the sky is the color of old pewter and the castle looks like it’s brooding over a storybook mystery, the shopkeepers are gathered to ponder a question they once swore to avoid forever.

It concerns a certain wizarding world.

Many a villager has said Snarfinkels looks like something out of Harry Potter. We’re flattered, truly. But we’ve worked hard to build a little world of our own, and the Snarfinkels are not a copy of any famous wizard. They are their own curious folk, with a deep fondness for fine things and Victorian splendor. Still, villagers keep asking if we’ll sell Harry Potter items, and time and again, the shopkeepers have said no.

Then last week, a young lass arrived beaming with pride, clutching her favorite Harry Potter book. “Do you have any chocolate frogs?” she asked.

Alas, we gave our steadfast answer. "No."

Yet she adored her visit all the same, saying it was the closest she’d ever come to a real Harry Potter store. So we let her in on a secret.

The Snarfinkels were delighted when J.K. Rowling published her tale of a boy who discovered a magical world, and delighted again when the first moving picture arrived. Snarfinkels have always loved the best of humanity: Victorian architecture, fine woodwork, delicious pastries and coffee, and a wee bit of mischief and magic. In fact, hidden deep within our tiny castle is a secret bathroom wallpapered in the Marauder’s Map from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The shopkeepers are well aware that many children may never get to travel to faraway lands to visit a proper Harry Potter shop. So here is our vexing question: we must stay true to our Snarfinkels, but should we set aside a small corner for Harry Potter treasures to soothe the cravings of this other wizarding world?

What say you, dear villager? ✨

Calling all villagers!

Mother Nature has tucked one last warm Saturday into the pocket of October, and she has handed it to all of us as a gift. The coffee pots are full, the bakery is fresh, and the doors of Snarfinkels are open wide for you.

We have also been blessed by a lovely article from Cheryl at The Business News, and we are tickled pink by her kind words. You can read it at the link below.

Now, villagers, let us speak of treats, for there are treats galore! The shelves are bursting with fresh bakery: kringles, mini kringles, crowns, strudels, pound cakes, and cake slices. For our gluten free friends, there are 7 flavors of cookies, pumpkin muffins, and apple c***r donuts.

Our coffee cauldrons are bubbling, too! Take home any of our 12 flavors of gourmet coffee beans, or sip a freshly brewed cup of Candlelight Cottage, Wicked Witch, Schnitzen Giggles, or Fairytale Frosting. ☕

For those with a sweet tooth, the chocolate cupboard holds 8 flavors of truffles, plus turtles, meltaways, and sea salt caramels. There are also chocolate covered espresso beans, almonds, raisins, bridge mix, graham crackers, and Oreos.

And for the children, and those of us who are young at heart, the toy chest is brimming with silliness: squishies galore, whoopee cushions, disguise glasses, kazoos, Chinese finger traps, scratch and sniff stickers (and puzzles!), and super balls. New this week are crazy straws and bubble wands! 🫧

Want to take a little Snarfinkels magic home? Pick up a hat, a ceramic mug, or a travel mug. You will also find custom garden art crafted by the folks at Vintage Works, and you can special order a piece in your favorite color.

It is such a beautiful October day, and we would love for you to visit and add a little magic to yours. ✨
