Meet the artist:

Dawn DeRosa was raised in Astoria Oregon and got into pottery in a not so ordinary way…
In November of 2020 Dawn suffered 3 major (life threatening) strokes. Her choice upon hospital discharge was to be moved to a rehab facility or move to her parents’ home in Arizona where they had been living since 2015.
The retirement community offered many diverse and wonderful activities for the residents. One of the activities was access to a pottery studio. Dawn was taken to the studio using a walker and carrying an oxygen tank. Sitting for hours "playing in the clay", helped Dawn get the dexterity back in her hands and forced her to use her cognitive and communication skills. Motivated by the experience and making so many lifelong friends, Dawn's recovery skyrocketed. Being ready to become independent again, Dawn has moved back "home" to the Oregon coast and has her own home studio, where she is constantly challenging herself with both functional and fine art pottery.
