to circa 1920 looking north following the shore in . It passes the Municipal Auditorium at the end of by the pier and amusement park just north of the auditorium. The roller coaster at the amusement park is on a pier that juts out into the ocean. The tall building on the left is The Breakers.

The Department, Engine Company No. 1, and horses, pose in front of the Central Station at 210 West 3rd Street circa 1920. The station was built in 1906. The engine company consists of a steam fire engine, a hose wagon and a ladder truck, all pulled by horses. On the left is a motorized vehicle. has the distinction of being the first west of the Rockies to have a motorized fire engine and in 1907 purchased two Rambler motor driven units with 40-gallon chemical tanks and 500 feet of hose each. The used this photograph for their 1920’s Greetings card. A bell tower attached to the building is visible in the background. This station was later destroyed in the .

The Crandall Boat Company buildings are prominent on the shore in the background. Crowds of spectators are gathered around the buildings at the water's edge. Other small boats are also visible in the same area. businesses, such as Crandall Boat Company, do not appear in the city directories before 1923 (when the area was annexed),in 1925 the Crandall Boat Company was not listed in city directories, suggesting it was no longer in business.
