Please allow me to introduce myself, My name is Johnny Acosta. I am from San Fernando. Not the valley, though I am a Vallero. But the Varrio. Borrego Valle Loco's. And I say that with much pride. As I'm also proud to say, I am not only a SouthSider, but a straight out Sureno. ESO!!! (stayed tuned if you do not know the difference). But my story of ESE GEAR starts here. I remember one day walking into a T-shirt factory, where they sell a lot of clothes.They have a very wide selection of t-shirts with our Hispanic Arte. Aztec Warriors, Fine Haynitas in LowRider ranflas. Smile now Cry Later faces, Thee Aztec Calendar and so on. I seen one that I really liked, of an Aztec Warrior. This one really caught my eye, so I took it to the register to pay. As I walked to the counter, I can hear the cashier talking in a foreign language. But this man is not talking as if holding a decent conversation, he's shouting what seems to be obscenity's. He takes the shirt and scans it, never even acknowledging me. But I could tell he's checking me up and down from the corner of his eye. Like if he where Royalty and I was a present. To which made me feel very uncomfortable, which then puts me on defensive mode. As he continued to talk in that very annoying language. I started to dislike this person, when the register made a bell sound showing me the total amount due. Then all of the sudden his voice goes up a couple of notches, He still has not greeted me or even tried to make eye contact. When all of the sudden he stretches out his arm towards me with palm facing up and starts wiggling his fingers...! And for some reason I felt he was talking s**t about ME! To the person on the other side of that line. I pulled out two $20 bills, and started making the motion to pay for it. When he seen me making that move,
he quickly went to grab it out of my hand, I snatched my hand back, leaving him empty handed. At this point for the first time, he turned around to look at me, I gave him a MADDOG look, looked at him up and down, as if measuring him (which I was). You want? he asked me. I looked him straight in the eye and said; YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL... At that point I could smell the fear, for it was also in his eyes, I pointed at the Aztec Warrior on the T-shirt and said; That's in my Blood! Hearing this his eyes grew 3 times the size and I walked out the door. "I'm not a killer, but don't push me... revenge is the next best thing to getting...!" As I was driving out that parking lot, I asked myself. Why couldn't we (La Raza) have a place that's our own? Like the blacks have FUBU, (FOR US BY US). Only better! 15 years later, here we are; ESE AUTHENTIC GEAR Is finally here! guaranteeing you that all our products are all done by Raza for Raza! I remember being in college, Penn State or State Penn, something like that... There are so many ESE's with DOWN ASS TALENT!, I would see Masterpieces of art work traded for a jar of coffee a book of stamp's or some cig's. Because of this I decided to reach out to those individuals that are masters of the art's, if you know of someone who has drawing skills, Tell them to send us those masterpiece art drawings. If we decide to use that drawing for our t-shirts or any clothing, we will deposit funds on your books. And we will will include your signature on your work, so that your name is recognized. Giving the artist the recognition deserved! The logo we have chose to represent ESE accommodated the word ESE perfectly! Knowing that once we started printing, that there would be many copy cat's jumping on a way to make fake merchandise not of the same quality for they don't care, just want to make a quick dollar and there by giving us thee OG's a bad rap on the quality of our merchandise. So we applied for Trademark Rights But we know KANPOL is not ours, yours or anyone's, It's our logo given to us from our Aztec Ancestors. This belongs to La Raza! And we're so proud of it! Here at ESE GEAR it's not so much about the money, it's more about bringing our Gente together, giving the younger generation a bit of schooling (sklecha), bringing to everyone's attention the way things were along with memories of the pass. A place for Raza to purchase their products with real Authentic Hispanic Art, from real artist of hispanic decent.The music that we in-braced and that are now fading away, That's why one of the categories we have "LOST ROLAS" brings music that should not be lost, back to the ears of Los Veteranos (O.GEE's) and to the ears of this new era of youngsters. Some of whom are driving without direction. If we were to guide just one young Homie in the right way, to live right and represent to the fullest. Then we have done good! The Lowrider Car's that also represent Raza! Is also a category we affore, "ESE RANFLAS" another "ESE JOKES" for if you need something to bring a smile to your mascara. "REST IN PEACE": Where you could post a pic of your loved one/one's. As I stated before, as for me and my associate it's not so much about the money but the principal, doing something I feel will help our Gente in someway. Don't feel you need to go to prison to be an ESE. I know many straight out ESE's that have never even been to jail, it's in the up bringing, Or it could just be the cards that were delt to you, and you learn to live in the streets you were brought up in to survive. As was my case. We have a dream that when this takes off, that we will be able to help certain individuals with funds for their needs or dreams. And the way we plan to bring this assistance to those in need, is to give back to certain areas in proportion to sales in that area, in example; East Los Area purchased a total of "sum" amount of money. Thirteen percent (13 being the magic number) of that sum will be used to finance a kid in a football team, whom parents could not finance. Or a person stuck on drugs, that really wants to make a change, but cannot afford the high cost of a rehab. A youngster that has skills in playing an instrument, but could not afford to take a course or needs an instrument. How we will decide who that or they will be selected is something we yet have not came to an agreement. We'll get to that when the time comes. First we need to get there. And that is the reason we are asking for your support along with Gods and La Gentes blessings. I'm also asking for the support and blessings of my carnalitos and thee familia, my big Homies, and my Raza! RAZA! Get Booted Up and Ready! We know QUALITY is the most important factor to keep our customers coming back. We are a young organization and there are things that are new to us, but we give you our Palabra that your best interest is our number one objective. I know I would rather give my money, when it comes to buying something of our heritage, to an organization that knows and cares about our roots and heritage. As opposed to some stranger who really don't give a S__t A__ about who or what this is all about. Just give them the money! And who is not willing to share profits with anyone (artist, manufacturer, giving back to community Ect.) As we are, here at ESE GEAR!
