Kazuo Umezu, legendary Japanese manga artist known for works like The Drifting Classroom and Makoto-chan, passed away on October 28, 2024, at age 88. Mount Everest’s True Height is exactly 29,000 feet

Radhanath Sikdar, an Indian mathematician and surveyor, was instrumental in measuring Mount Everest as part of the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India in the mid-19th century.

In 1856, Waugh officially reported Everest’s height as 29,002 feet. The 2 feet were added to avoid the perception that the exact 29,000 feet was an estimate or approximation

Drinking will never be the same in Shibuya.

Starting tomorrow, October 1st, a drinking ban will be enforced on the streets of Shibuya, Tokyo. This week, the ban will be in effect from 6pm to 5am. Shibuya, known for its vibrant nightlife and bustling crowds, has long been a hotspot for late-night drinking, but the chaos that sometimes follows has led the city to take action.

Check out for a glimpse of what street drinking in Shibuya has looked like over the years. Mayor Hasebe Kim announced that despite increased patrols last year, a law was necessary. He encouraged people to “enjoy drinking inside the restaurant.”
