BABY CHEF says: Get Creative with healthy snacks!

Snacks dense in high fructose corn syrup and candy are the main culprits in childhood belly aches and are highly addictive. We all know that leads to a road of childhood obesity and diabetes. Making simple steps like rewriting grocery lists and walking differently in the aisles of grocery stores could make all the difference!

Parenthood is a thankless job and the duties are endless, yet Introducing healthy snacks early on is something yummy you guys can enjoy together!

Get creative and treat yourself to some fun. Shop locally when you can and buy fruits when they’re in season. What’s on the menu of ideas today:

-Sliced grape halves
-Sliced strawberries*
-Watermelon shapes
-Guacamole + Avocado
-Thinly Sliced Carrot Chips*
-Mango
-Starfruit
-Apricot
-Lemon + Limes*
(Tips*: Strawberries- a good way to clean strawberries is by letting them soak in apple cider vinegar
Carrot- carrots have to be cut very thin to minimize choking. This is a snack that should be enjoyed together. Do not feed to infants who are teething
Lemons/Limes- Rich in acidic properties and are tasty to squeeze over food for a kick in flavoring. Not all kids like lemons but if yours does you can really explore more!)

Kids have a habit of telling you what they don’t like before they try something. As adults we can learn from this... We really don’t know what we don’t like until we try something new!

🎀Black Children’s Book Story for Little Girls🎀

I made this book for my darling niece Makayla. Her birthday was this past winter. She has her very own print edition while this book is available in ebook format.

She’s a very big inspiration to me and I wanted to write a story for her depicting the different emotions she may feel and all the activities that could possibly make up her day. She’s turned six and I wanted to create a piece of media for her and her friends to enjoy and know that she’s valued, her feelings are valid, and regardless of what boxes the world may try to fit her in, she is uniquely capable.

When you see people online asking for Black Children’s book recommendations, I hope you all feel free to share mine. It’s a lovely read especially for little beginners.

Coming from a place of just creating for the sake of it. I doodle or draw expecting nothing in return. I’m reminded all the time, people have to stick to their formulas of success. What works for me may not for someone else. It’s important I listen 💓

“Threads of Love” by

I had the wonderful chance to illustrate my friend’s story in a comic strip Takako wrote this story in 2017 for her cotton lingerie line Everyday she takes the time to educate us about all the wonderful benefits to choosing organic cotton clothing and products that in turn create living wages and cultivate happy lives for the producers and the consumers and for the benefit of our planet!

Please take a moment to read this cute little dialogue and follow for updates and giveaways! It’s a small brand and is the brilliant woman behind it! She’s one of LA’s top pattern makers and the industry’s best kept secret. More than anything I’m happy to see her launch her own line! Find out more how she applies her wholistic Japanese roots to American fashion culture here in LA 💞🌱

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something

Feeling inspired by all the positive visuals coming forth. And although I’m not in a writing space these days, I’m asserting my creativity in other areas, I’ll happily recreate anything I see of value.

It may be for a season but during this it’s important to at least show up :)

Being able to empathize and hold compassion for others is a gift that comes naturally to some. Healing powers to other, and the ability to lead for others. I hold dear to my heart, to hold a space for each and in everyone.

At different times throughout life, our gifts come to light.
