Kobe was born in 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father, Joe "Jellybean" Bryant, was also a professional basketball player.
Kobe began playing basketball at a young age and was heavily influenced by Michael Jordan, who was his hero.
Kobe attended Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania, where he led his team to the state championship and became the all-time leading scorer in school history.
Kobe was drafted straight out of high school by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996, but he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers shortly thereafter.
Kobe played for the Lakers for his entire career, which lasted from 1996 to 2016. He won five NBA championships with the team and was a 18-time All-Star.
Kobe was known for his exceptional skills as a scorer and his fierce competitive drive. He was also known for his work ethic and his relentless dedication to improving his game.
In addition to his basketball career, Kobe was also a successful entrepreneur and investor. He won an Academy Award in 2018 for his animated short film "Dear Basketball."
Kobe was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in January 2020, along with his daughter Gianna and seven other people. His death was a shock to the world and he was mourned by fans and fellow players around the globe.
