Robert Coutelas II, 1977, France.

This mystical piece is apart of his “Cartes” series of playing-card-sized paintings, where he used wood and cardboard that he found on the street as the canvases for his work.

Talk about upcycling!

Our first drop will exclusively be scarves featuring our hand-painted designs on recycled materials and our eco-dyed scarves made of natural fibers. We are so excited to share all that we have been working and be on the lookout for more designs to drop over the coming weeks!

The Garden of Weeds capsule collection consisting of blouses, dresses, skirts and more will drop Spring 2021.

Our organic cotton bandanas and silk/peace silk scarves are all dyed with nature (yes, literally colors of the wind status) in our LA studio. We either collect the plants from local farm stands, utilize food scraps, or source them from companies who have long standing ties with their farmers. This goes for our silks and organic cottons as well — we’ve vetted producers to ensure that our materials are coming from farms with both humane and sustainable practices.

A few benefits of utilizing botanical dyes:

- No carcinogens/nontoxic
- Biodegradable
- Anti-microbial properties
- Higher UV absorption
- Produces no waste

A w**d is only defined by our perception. By definition, a w**d is a “wild plant growing where it is not wanted” - the undesirables.

So, you know that the gorgeous green ivy climbing the walls of cottages and scaling the glass ceilings of green houses is “technically” a w**d. But here’s the thing: to many, it is not. It is a welcomed visitor - they embrace it like a dear old friend visiting their home, allowing it to take up as much space as it so desires.

Our point? Try letting things grow before eradicating it, before labeling it (not just wildlife, but ideas, creations, relationships). Allow it to form a whole new existence within its growth. See what happens- watch how your perception evolves.

Yeah, we know. 2020 was ugly. Every single one of us struggled on a level that we did not expect when we made our resolutions last New Year’s Eve. Some of us unfortunately struggled more than others - but we live by this: you can never measure and compare the pain of one another. We all have galaxies rotating within us. Even more importantly, we are all interconnected and this year more than ever, it was demonstrated exactly how far that link goes. 2020 was ugly, yes. But nobody can deny that within the murky grittiness of this past year, beauty was found. Here’s to 2021- finding the beauty in the otherwise, unexpected.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year full growth, health, love and light.
Love,
Garden of Weeds
