Want your business to be the top-listed Clothing Store?
My name is Channing Weitz & I am the owner of Humble Wag. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been surrounded by dogs. I don’t just think of them as animals, but truly members of my family. I was the baby with a giant standard poodle and a very protective doberman guarding my crib at all times. There was no getting to me unless you got passed them. I never knew what real heartbreak was like until I lost my two beloved protectors who were the purest hearts to blame for my continued obsession with dogs. When I left California for college in Arizona, the one rule my parents gave me was, “Do not get a dog until after you graduate!” Well… I technically did not go out and buy a dog; I was lucky enough to rescue mine right off the streets of Tucson, Arizona where I was attending school at the University of Arizona. That was it. From the second I locked eyes with my beloved Carter, I knew that I would do everything in my power to help homeless or abandoned dogs find their forever homes. I rescued Carter when I was just nineteen years old and now, at twenty-seven years old, he is the heart and soul of Humble Wag and the reason I decided to start my own company. I left Arizona after two years and ended up moving home and graduated from Loyola Marymount University. When I moved back to California, I volunteered at several rescues and it wasn’t long before I decided Carter needed a friend. I rescued a beautiful corgi/beagle mix named Romeo, who was abandoned as a puppy. It’s very difficult working in a rescue without being able to bring all the animals home. I had to figure out a way I could make a difference rescuing animals responsibly without ending up in a house full of them (not like it’s a bad thing – given fast forwarding a couple of years, I have now rescued three dogs and a cat). As a mom of rescues, I am all too familiar with animals who deal with severe anxiety because of their previous traumas. My dogs love to wear clothes because the clothing makes them feel safe and protected. I wanted to figure out a way to design cute, yet beneficial clothes for all of our furry best friends. One of my dogs is allergic to grass… MAJOR BUMMER… since he loves to be outside. I wanted to create something he could wear that was breathable yet provided the necessary protection for his skin. The list goes on about all the reasons I wanted to create a company that revolves around dogs, but the main goal is to try and save as many animals as possible and figure out a way to put an end to animal cruelty once and for all. I created a collection of clothing and toys while a portion of each purchase will be donated to Wags and Walks!
