It’s almost that time when folks are making their New Years Resolutions. However, ask yourself why wait until January 1. That day doesn’t just magically change things. Why not start now and get a head start. With the holidays upon us, we are likely to over indulge on delicious meals and move less as the weather gets cooler.
Here are 3 reasons why you should start your resolutions now!
1. Get a head start
Rather than wait until January 1, get ahead of it now and start creating healthier habits. That could be eating healthier, sleeping earlier or starting a new workout routine. This will help you develop new habits to help you make healthier choices during the holidays.
And this will make it that much easier for you to continue once New Years Eve has come and gone.
2. Rely on yourself
Too often people tend to rely on others to make plans to achieve resolutions together. This is great, however, too often it fails. Relying on others to reach a goal often back fires. Everyone’s goals may not align and by the time New Years’s Eve has come and gone you may be the only one left. And if you used others participation as a reason for you to be motivated than that could completely derail your plans. Unless you know you can 💯count on someone else to help keep you accountable, it’s always a safer bet to count on yourself to reach your goals.
3. Create a deficit
We often over indulge over the holidays. Studies show that some people gain up to 5 pounds and have difficulty getting it back off. Starting healthier habits earlier will make it easier for you keep off the extra weight or at least have less to lose after the holidays are over.
Instead of becoming overwhelmed by trying to crush all of your goals at once, start small. That could mean going for a 10 minute walk after dinner or drinking more water. Just choose one thing to achieve at a time. You never know, by the time New Year’s Eve comes, you may have already reached all of your goals!
