I have recently embraced the flowy wide-legged trouser, and I can’t say I have been disappointed. I really do feel a little more sophisticated and a lot more polished. I urge you to take a stab at it, and even though I am not a fan of fast fashion I really think the trouser I bought at Abercrombie and Fitch for $70.00 was the right way to test the trend. I wasn’t really interested in spending more on something I had never worn before. I paired it with a sweater purchased from Everlane in the same color.
I am convinced monotone is the way to go, it feels a little more chic minimalist and a lot less “worky” I personally think it looks best with flats, mules or a white sneaker. And of course, you can’t go wrong with the classic black wide leg with a crisp white T-shirt. Consider this a massive Spring update and departure from the ubiquitous jogger XoXo

Why I love Etsy, besides the obvious, supporting independent creators, thinkers, makers, dreamers, and the uber-talented. I love connecting with sellers all over the world, I mean it is so fun to spend a few hours shopping in Slovenia, Iceland, or Korea, or pretending you are haggling in a souk In Marrakesh. The world is your oyster, literally, on Etsy. The hand-poured candles, the crystals, and the linen pillowcases all have made great gifts. And when I moved this past year to L.A. my runner,  linen bedding, and throw pillows were all purchased on Etsy. Whenever I need some blingy Ear Candy ( from my fave shop in Spain) , Etsy. Cool new linen dress, Etsy. (from Seoul, Korea) 

I am happy to confirm I have purchased all these items.

Dress up your ears feels so good! I recently got my 6th piercing, I now have 3 in each ear. I can truthfully say my new found obsession for ear candy is endless. Mixing metals, stones, some with studs, and some with hoops or dangles. And even if I am wearing joggers, my ears are  always party ready.And don’t forget to throw in a crawlerThe ear cuff is great if you don’t want to commit to more holes, and for adding extra sparkle.
The best part, they are your earlobes,
so do what you want.

My first real relationship, my first love, was with my best friend, Lisa Pine. I would have done anything for her, and I believe she would have done anything for me. It was the most important bond I would ever forge in the truest sense. She taught me so much about loyalty, trust, and girl power. We were a team, and it set a precedent for how I moved through the world-- in my close relationships and beyond. This invaluable lesson I learned at five years old carried me well into my 50s.
What did it teach me? We should not underscore the importance of lifting each other up. Whether through mentoring, caring for someone in a time of need, or just being an ear to listen, it should be at the top of our priority list. Because when the world is against one of us it is against all of us.

We must support not just our close friends but all women across the country through trying times. We can and must learn that we should encourage all women through their choices, although they may not be our choices. The fight for pro-choice is far from over. It is only just starting. Roe is not codified, and abortion rights are being rolled back in every state. We must get back to the field if we are one big team. Women supporting women is the only weapon we have. We need to get back to what Lisa taught me when holding hands, sleeping over, and brushing each other's hair was the most important thing in the world.  Let’s treat all women like that first best friend we would die for.

So this Valentine's Day, take the opportunity to lift women up. Send your bestie a scented candle or make a donation in her name to support those outside of your circle. Do it for your daughter, your neighbor, or better yet, for a young girl who has no one to talk to and doesn't have a strong support system.

We are and always will be stronger together. Your five-year-old self will thank you.

Being a minimalist is not as easy as it sounds. Buy less Choose better, which I have now been doing for years, is tricky, difficult,  time-consuming and truth be told not always fun. Impulse buying, surf shopping, Ig FOMO are all stacked against me. And no one I tell you is perfect at this.
(certainly not me)
Monotone colors, fewer better, blah blah blah. But this time of year is the best for a refresh, as my mother always said, (the original fashionista, and definitely not a minimalist.)
Now is the time to buy what you love, and buy what you wear, and truly at this point in your life you should know what looks good on you, what makes you feel great, and what you really are going to wear.

If one thing is certain, color defines our mood, or lack of color perhaps says more. When I think back on 2021 minus the obvious I will always remember it for the chalk, the n**e, and of course the oatmeal, it was everywhere. we couldn’t escape it. Joggers, cashmere, and of course the ubiquitous off-white bag. These non-colors seeped into consciousness so deeply they became our armor. 
No longer paying attention to the shades we just wore “white” in hopes we could trump good over evil. (and we did!) 
But suddenly there is a shift. yesterday I spotted 2 girls wearing burgundy leggings, and before that, I noticed the cutest quilted puffer in a deep red wine color. 
And I don't know about you, but I am obsessed with wine color nails, yes my manicurist is perplexed by this, considering 99% of the time I ask for no polish at all. And brown is surely making a comeback, caramel, toffee, and cinnamon, all the warm glowy tones seem everywhere.
I am happy to embrace some color for a while because I think the future is rosy.

Let's wear sky-high shoes, super sparkly dangly earrings, and flowy dresses, satin jumpsuits, and gem stone-crusted clutch bags.
Let's gorge ourselves on caviar and drink really good champagne till the sunrises. And let's turn the music up as loud as it will go and dance all night.

I am the luckiest girl. I was born a Daughter, I have a Sister, I am an Aunt, and I am a Best Friend to some amazing women. When I was a freshman in college I was initiated into a sorority of incredible girls with whom I am still today in contact. Needless to say, I take the sisterhood very seriously.
When I re-launched Koolest Women last year I promised myself that I would not ignore the world around us, and sadly sometimes a shiny new pair of shoes won't solve all of our problems, even if it worked out for Dorothy and Cinderella.

No one is immune to accidents, and s**t happens. Some guys have Michael Phelps like swimmers, some guys have a nasty right hook, and some guys are just nasty. And sometimes an extra glass of wine is all it takes. As I said, s**t happens.

My college roommate, my husband (pre-me), and my son all found themselves and/or their partners needing access to clean, safe and affordable healthcare, and all 3 were very lucky.
But there are girls out there that need our help, who don't have loving supportive families who are going to protect them at all costs.

So this holiday season, I am not only asking you to buy less, I am asking you to give more. Because at the end of the day we are all 👯‍♀️

Recently I was asked by my BFF’s to put together a true list, these are my clothes for real, the perfect sneaker (twice) cauz you gotta have 2 pairs, and the best bag. Tanks and tees, and even my most coveted ring.

I really wanted to just revisit my old lovers, Mr. Manolo and  Mrs. Frame, but honestly they just didn’t feel right.Pretending that we can just go back in time and pick up where we left off seemed plausible, albeit a bit naive.
But the reality is, It did happen and we are different.
I went to a meeting the other day wearing my favorite black boots, black trench and frame denim, my old standby uniform, my armor, my can do and say anything in these clothes.
But I really wasn’t feeling it.I wouldn’t say I lost my mojo, but something was amiss.
 I felt like I was an imposter wearing someone else’s clothes from a galaxy far far away.
 The new clothes are baggier, more comfy, definitely more luxe, and dare I say more colorful and in some cases white (oatmeal, chalk, and cement).
 It's a new world and fashion as always reflects our history, where we have been and absolutely where we are going. 
 To pretend otherwise would imply we were “fashion deniers” if there was such a thing.
P.S. My new favorite pant, the Everlane Dream, is perfect in every way!
