Once upon a time, there was a father who lived with his young son in a peaceful village. The father was a hardworking farmer, always waking up early to work in the fields. The son often saw his father getting up at dawn and working tirelessly from morning until night without ever complaining.
One day, the boy asked his father, "Dad, why do you work so hard every day? We are not poor, and we have enough to eat and wear."
The father smiled, sat down next to his son, and said, "Son, I want to tell you a story. Long ago, your grandfather was also a farmer, just like I am now. When I was your age, he worked from dawn until dusk. I once asked him the same question you asked me today."
Your grandfather replied, "People are like trees. When you take care of them, water them, and fertilize them regularly, they grow strong and bear sweet fruit. But if you are lazy and don’t take care of them, they will become stunted and wither away. Life is the same; people need to work hard, not just to make a living, but also to learn how to be independent, strong, and appreciate what they have."
The father looked at his son and continued, "I work not just for the sake of food and clothing, but so that you learn to live responsibly, to love, and to appreciate the efforts of hard work. When you grow up, you will understand that there is nothing more precious than the things you build with your own hands."
The boy listened, feeling the warmth in his father's words, and from that day on, he no longer saw farming as a chore. He began to work alongside his father every day, learning and understanding the values his father wanted to pass down.
This story helped him realize that in life, nothing comes easily. Every achievement is the result of constant effort and perseverance.
