- meet Sam, who will be attending the 2025 NYC Buddy Walk®!
From Sam's parents: "This is our son, Sam, who has Down syndrome! He’s been a military kid his whole life, moving 9 times in 20 years. Our active-duty Air Force family is walking in the NYC Buddy Walk to bring national awareness to the many kids and adults with Down syndrome who also have a parent serving in the U.S. military!
These kids and young adults have to change doctors, therapists, teachers, programs, schools, Medicaid waivers and friends every couple of years. Their sacrifice for our country often goes unrecognized — and no one is a greater rock star or advocate than every mom with a special needs child whose spouse serves our country! We are walking in September to give voice to ALL military families serving our nation while simultaneously raising and advocating for their amazing special kids and young adults."
