There are books we read.

And then there are books we treasure.

Let’s Chase The Moon is the children’s book I wish I had when my own children were in elementary school. Inspired by my journey as a physicist, aerospace professional, and mom, I wrote this story to celebrate curiosity, kindness, ADHD awareness, and the wonder of looking up at the moon and believing anything is possible.

Beautifully illustrated by Lika Kvirikashvili (Lika Labadze), every page invites children and families to dream together through more than 70 original illustrations, family activities, and a glossary that keeps the learning going long after story time ends.

Story time doesn’t have to look just one way.

Some days it’s cuddling up together with a beautiful book before bed. ❤️

Being you is enough.

Not because you are perfect.
Not because you have all the answers.
Not because every goal has been reached.

You are enough because your worth was never tied to a title, a promotion, someone else’s approval, or a particular outcome.

There will always be another milestone to chase, another expectation to meet, another voice telling you who you should become.

But growth should never require you to abandon who you are.

Keep learning.
Keep evolving.
Keep stretching toward your goals.

Just don’t forget that the person doing the growing is already worthy.

You do not have to earn your value.

You already have it.

As a Physicist and Reliability Engineer supporting human spaceflight, one of the greatest joys of my life is helping send people to space and then helping children imagine themselves there.

I loved serving as the featured author and reading Let’s Chase The Moon to bright princesses and a few wonderful princes, too. Watching their creativity come alive through experiments and art reminded me that imagination is at the heart of STEM.

💗👑✨ Story time, princess dresses, books, and big dreams—what a magical afternoon at the STEM Princess for a Day event at the Pico Rivera Library!

I was honored to serve as the featured author and lead story time with Let’s Chase The Moon by K. L. Carter, featuring over 70 beautiful custom illustrations by Lika Labadze. Seeing so many bright and curious princesses—and a few wonderful princes, too!—engaged with the story, asking questions, and dreaming big was truly the highlight of my day. 🌙🚀📚

From meeting future engineers and scientists to coloring, reading, and celebrating the joy of learning, this event was a beautiful reminder that children can love crowns and careers, fairy tales and physics, imagination and innovation.

Someone asked me recently, “What are you going to do with all of those affirmations?”

For a while now I’ve been sharing affirmations, leadership reflections, and thoughts on growth, resilience, and possibility. One of the things I’ve loved most is hearing from people who tell me they screenshot them, save them, or return to them when they need a reminder, a shift in perspective, or a moment of encouragement.

That question stayed with me. The answer became The Space Between Thoughts.

Inside, I’ve collected 72 of my favorite affirmations and paired them with reflection prompts and space to write. Because inspiration can spark an idea — transformation happens when you take ownership of it.

The pages are designed to become your launch point. A place to reflect on a thought, explore what it means for your life, your leadership journey, or your next chapter, and then create an action plan that moves a dream, vision, or goal forward.

Perhaps that’s the scientist and reliability engineer in me. I’ve always believed vision and ex*****on belong together.

🌕✨ People often ask me where the idea for Let’s Chase The Moon came from.

The truth is, we really chased the moon.

When my children were little—and even now as they’ve grown into teenagers—we would run outside whenever there was a full moon, a harvest moon, a super moon, a blue moon, or a strawberry moon. The brighter, the better.

Our favorite adventures happened in the car.

We’d pile in with snacks, music, and excitement and head out into the night, driving through neighborhoods and onto the open road, wondering if maybe, just maybe, we could get close enough to catch the moon.

Of course, we never did.

But that was never the point.

The joy was in the journey.

It was taking blurry pictures through the car window. It was laughing and talking. It was sharing dreams, telling stories, and making memories. Some of our best conversations happened while chasing something we knew we’d never catch.

And somewhere along the way, those moon chases became Let’s Chase The Moon.

Today, I’m honored to share that same sense of wonder with children and families everywhere through the adventures of Amara, Dainin, and their loving parents, Valeria and Xavier.

Beautifully illustrated by Lika, Let’s Chase The Moon celebrates curiosity, family, kindness, science, imagination, and the simple joy of looking up together.

One of my greatest joys this year was reading the story to students at ICEF View Park Preparatory Elementary School and donating a copy to the library so future readers can enjoy the same adventure. I’m also honored that the book is registered with the Library of Congress and is already available in California libraries, with more to come.

Because sometimes the greatest adventures aren’t about reaching the destination.

They’re about who you’re with when you’re chasing the moon.
