FROM SWATCHES TO STYLE I LOOK 01

Here’s what I mean by “From Swatches to Style.”

When most people look at a fabric swatch, they see a color and a pattern.

When I look at one, I start thinking about what it could become.

With this Marzoni Italian Fabric, navy / burgundy windowpane fabric, the burgundy accent immediately caught my attention. That gave me the direction for the rest of the look—from the double-breasted suit and wide peak lapels to the tie, shoes and accessories.

As a clothier and style coach, I’m always thinking beyond the first outfit. Keeping my clients informed about what's next, and always adding fabric options. This allows me to recommend fabrics that take my clients from vision to reality.

That’s why I say being a custom clothier is more than helping a client select fabric.
It’s about taking their idea, from vision to reality.

One of the most interesting parts of what I do happens before a garment is ever made.

A client may look at a fabric swatch and see a color or pattern. I'm already visualizing what that fabric can become-the silhouette, lapels, shirt, tie, pants, shoes, accessories, and most importantly, how those choices fit the individual wearing them.

Throughout October, I'm going to share more of that creative process through a new GLS Custom Clothiers series called:
